Found this tooth in a place where all the teeth are whiteish with lightning streaks (acidic). This "tooth" was found where several other teeth were found. E.g.. Megs, GW, and makos. All but a few show signs of sever breakdown. I included an additional pic of more teeth found there for reference. Thoughts??

I will be getting my military retiree ID soon that should allow me to get on Camp Lejune and visit the Onslo Beach recreation area. I've heard the fossil hunting there was very good back when it was easier to get on base. I assume I can expect to find the same sort of shark teeth and other fossils as are found on North Topsail Beach since the two locations are not too many miles apart? The last few trips to NTB have been a bust and I want to make another trip to the coast worthwhile. Any thoughts, tips, or suggestions are welcome.

With all the dredging occurring along Holden Beach, lots of cool stuff to be found. Came across this crab claw, which looks very similar to one found by a member Carl in a post from 2018 I think. Doing some research looks like from Necrocarcinus family but not sure if that aligns to Pee Dee formation…. The top of the pincher broke off, but the movable bottom is still affixed… (bottom of pic with teeth)

Wanted to share one of my first trips to a new location I went to last year. I was only checking the area for fossil evidence and was blown away at what I found. I was there for 2.5 hrs and could not believe what I left with. Completely surprised and could not be happier. This place has stayed on my mind ever since. lol. <·,^ ><

Hey guys, went on a fossil hunt this weekend and found a nice variety of teeth. Weather was great for a change and the water was perfect. I was only able to get in about 2 hours but here's the goods. Can't wait to go back!

Well folks all of us in the househave been sitting around a day and a half after testing positive for this corona stuff. We all are fully vaccinated, booster included and are showing none to severely mild symptoms. Myself, I am showing no symptoms at all othe than mild head / body aches. But, we are all ok. Anyways, I had to get out for a bit so I drove the couple of miles to my private little Eocene quarry. Other than the normal assortment of teeth, sawfish verts and rostral teeth I found this heartbreaker of a ric. Other than the broken root it is a gorgeous tooth. It measured 3.10 inches on my caliper. I sifted the dirt all around it hoping to find the broken root piece. But, oh well still a beautiful tooth. Definately beat sitting around!

While not as big as my 2.03 inch one I found in 2019 it did come from the same site. So maybe there is another 2 incher there. This one measures 1.65 inches long along the slant and 1.43 inches wide.

Help to ID what appears to be a tooth root segment from GMR NC

Found this digging in greens mill run NC the other day - was in stuff that was a mix of the Yorktown and Cretaceous typical for that creek - so found with crow shark, great whites , giant whites , whale bone fragments and ear bones etc.. It reminds me in shape of the tooth root chunks I frequently find at gmr of the enchodus but obviously much much much larger than those and the bone on this is much more porous as well though I’m not experienced enough to know if that’s from aging wear or not, honestly. Anyhow if anyone knows what tooth root segment this might be from or if I’m totally off and maybe it’s something mammal , any assistance is greatly appreciated! Last photo is the stuff I found (and actually kept) in the same area and with a pen for reference of size.

Roughly 5x7”. Perhaps a gill plate? Found in Cape Fear NC region.

I took the day off and went fossil hunting yesterday at a Castle Hayne Formation exposure. I haven't been to this site in almost a decade. I've been wanting to get some matrix from the site so I can sift for microfossils, so that was the purpose of the trip. Here are some photos of fossil seen. The most abundant echinoid at this site is Eurhodia rugosa ideali, there are hundreds here. Other echinoids are scarce. Here are a couple E. rugosa ideali.

Hello All, I was turning earth for a garden with a small tiller at my sisters house in Sophia, NC in 2012, near the Caraway mountains. I found three items turned out from the ground. I saved them until now and recently used Google Lens to help identify what they may be. The larger of the 3 objects I cannot figure out. I hope someone can help. It is dense and has an odd texture. Thanks in advance and good luck.

Hi everyone, looking for some ID help on these mammal teeth. The first tooth on left was found in NC. The 2 teeth on the right were found in NJ. The middle tooth I think is a modern deer, the other 2 appear to be a lot older.

A few more of my favorite finds from the Aurora Fossil Museum Matrix - I am not even half way through the two gallon bags of matrix from my purchase! SO MUCH COOL LITTLE STUFF!! Being micros, all specimens are under 1/4 inch Shark Teeth: Top Cookie Cutter, Sand Tiger Bottom : Catshark, Unknown Not Shark Teeth: Top: Not sure what this one is, Second one is Raja Bottom: Fish Porgy and Dasyatidae Top: Echinoid spine and tubercle Bottom: Burrfish mouthplate and a bit o' Crab I think Not sure about these but I am leaning towards Turtle on both top and bottom specimens.

I went on a very pleasant hike last weekend on the Island Creek Trail in the Croatan National Forest near Pollocksville, NC. In one spot along the creek the embankment is layered with about 15 feet of fossil shells. Trying to get an idea of the age of these deposits. Pleistocene? Miocene?

Hi again. I have another one for you. I think I could tell if it wasn't broken! Found in green mill run. It is 1.5 inches or 3.8 cm. There is a definite ridge on one side. I tried to get a good picture of its location, the cavity seems slightly oval. Thank you again! I really appreciate you all teaching and helping me!

Hi all. I have 2 things to ask about. The longer one was found in a creek in summerville SC it is just under 1.5 inches or 3.81cm. It is smooth all around, no ridges the center hole is definitely circular. The second one was found at Green Mill Run in Greenville NC it is .75 inches or 1.9 cm. I thought is was different the way he tip is a different color then the rest. Also there is a ridge running around the tip that I can feel even where the enamel (?) Is not chipped off. Thank you so much!! I am happy to answer questions

This assemblage came from one cup (about 340 ml) of micro matrix from Aurora Fossil Museum. Oddly, they are generally much larger than most of what I found in the rest of the matrix. They are all from either the Pliocene or Pleistocene. See album description.
