I tried to fix these pics with GIMP but this is the best I could get. Found at the Caney River in central N.E. Oklahoma It is at an angle and is concave, one half to two inches long. It is kind of leaf shaped with a series of raised bumps through the center. Further to the right, reminds me of a tiny mud daubers nest which the wasps have grown and left. Thank you.

Updated: Needing help with id type of arthropod creating trackway
pjullien posted a topic in Fossil ID
Found this today....The area never ceases to amaze me...always something new to find. Thanks to those below in identifying this as an arthropod trackway fossil. Would like to try to see if it can now be narrowed down to which type of arthropod if possible ?- 11 replies

Exciting find....most of what I have found in this area are brachiopods, bivalves, crinoids, coral and some very cool gastropods. One of my sons was out with me a couple of days ago and he tried his hand at removing a fossil from the rock while I was working on a brachiopod. I didn't notice what he found until he showed me after breaking it free and I couldn't believe it..... I never found one of these and he found one on his first try..... lol We had to glue two pieces together though...because there was some collateral damage.

Most of the time I see a fossil such as photo 1. When I flip it over to see the back I often get photo 2. Today I was combing with my eyes a section of water just off the lake shore in NE Oklahoma when I spotted a nice Brachiopod photo 3 ( I think it was one) When I flipped it over I was pretty shocked because the inside was almost totally clean of extra material photo 4. I don't recognize the species... but its pretty cool.

We live in Tulsa and I want to take a few day trips to look for fossils. We will be near Lake Gibson this coming weekend. I have read that there are good areas near the dam there but do not know where to look. Any help would be great! My kids are really excited about hunting! We have a lot to learn but might as well get started. Thanks!!!

Found in steep wooded area. Can anyone help me guess? Not seeing anything similar on line. The "knuckle" rock is porous looking. The other looks like a claw is coming out of the rock.
