    Old Neanderthal Drawing

Happened upon this old drawing I did of a Neanderthal man when I was 17 or 18 during the height of my caveman obsession. Probably drew it during class when I was supposed to be paying attention. It's pretty amateurish, but it was good to see his face again. I don't know why I drew him so angry looking, he would have looked better with a big toothy grin.
  3. A group of UK scientists reexamined a group of late stage Neanderthal teeth from the early 1900s with modern techniques such as CT scanning. They discovered a mix of new characteristics indicative of both modern Homo sapiens and Neanderthal, more evidence supporting a gradual absorption of Neanderthals into emerging modern human populations. Neanderthal fetal skull

What about a Neanderthal embryo fossil cast mineralized common opal? Would that be rare? I found this in central oregon and I know nothing about it. I do suffer from extremely vivid imagination that most people call paradolia. This is not that. After a bit more liberation I now can see a skull, spine a tail (I think ) and a tiny little foot that almost winds up in its mouth. Did some research of features and came up with the above description. I think i
  5. Two year old Neanderthal child from 40,000 Years ago was probably intentionally buried. Researchers in France reevaluated data from the early 1970's excavation to confirm. https://www.livescience.com/neanderthal-child-burial-solves-mystery.html

    Neanderthal string!

Tiny bit of preserved string from 50,000 years ago reminds us that Neanderthals were pretty smart. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1179946
  7. Genetic evidence points to a interbreeding event between the common ancestors of Neanderthals and Denisovians and a newly recognised "super archaic" human group that diverged 2 million years ago. The breeding event seems to have happened 700,000 years ago. Our family tree looking more like a braided vine https://m.phys.org/news/2020-02-earliest-interbreeding-event-ancient-human.html
