Transcontinental novice fossil hunting couple :)
FossilSniffer posted a topic in Member Introductions
Hello! I'm from Austria and my girlfriend is from the US (NY) and we both share a love for fossils. We have some passed from the family or bought (ammonites, shark teeth, a sliced fish) but we'd really like to start hunting for them, in or around NY for now, and in Europe in the future. We look forward to learn a lot about the hobby, and would love to hear from New Yorkers! Very excited to discuss with y'all- 10 replies

Hi all. I’m 27 and have been hunting for 6 months. I live in Ladson so i collect a lot in the Charleston area, but I’m from Aiken SC and that’s where my current passion is. Would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about the Aiken area or the formations therein, specifically the dry branch formation. Looking forward to great discussions, happy to be here!

My new Dinosaur novel "New Hunter" is out now!
FF7_Yuffie posted a topic in Members' News & Diversions
Forgive the self-promotion. But I thought I'd give it a mention here. My book, "New Hunter" is out now, $2.99 for the Kindle version, $12.00 for paperback. And it is doing pretty well, got to Number One for its category, so I am very pleased. It is set in the Wessex Formation, following a Valdosaurus and an Iguanodon herd trying to survive from a Neovenator that has made its way to the island where they live. It is sorta inspired by Watership Down and Farthing Wood. All of the first 48-hours of sales are going to be donated to Ukraine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLL19CLP cheers- 6 replies

Hi everyone! I’ve been lurking around TFF for a couple months now and never had the guts to post my first introduction. So hello! I’m not new to fossil hunting, but I’m definitely new to the forum and hunting with other people. I would love to get to go out on socially-distanced trips sometime soon should anyone else in the area be up for it! I currently reside in Lewisville, and I’m always looking for construction areas or somewhere the dirt is turned so that I can pull off and find some goodies! Though I’ve yet to find anything here, I spent a few years in Denton and have a collection of fossils from there! I spend time hunting no matter where I’m at (so long as it’s legal) because I love getting to see the difference/similarities between flora and fauna between the places I’ve traveled! I used to be a member of Dallas Paleo and definitely want to get a membership again, however the pandemic has shut down all of their meetings and trips so I’ll be waiting until things clear up before doing so. I’ve visited a few of the staple sites in North Texas, but I’ve been dying to go up to NSR with someone familiar with the area and willing to share some honey holes! Posting a quick photo of my current display of my self-collected fossils, as I’m rather proud of the method of display here! I can’t wait to go on more trips and learn more about the creatures who roamed around the earth in our past!
