I am new to fossil collecting and I have a bit of a mystery on my hands, any help would be appreciated. I found this fossil in NJ (USA) in an area well known for late Cretaceous marine fossils (shark teeth etc). I have been told that it is a claw from a ghost shrimp, but I’m struggling to verify that-honestly to my naive eye it looks like a starfish arm. This is an image from my microscope, it is approximately 1 cm in length. thanks!

Good evening folks! I’ve had this specimen in my collection since April 2013 when I first visited Big Brook in New Jersey. I have a separate fossil from the same trip that I am more thoroughly convinced is bone which is highly dense and has probable scavenging marks. If it is a fossil then a more reasonable answer may be burrow cast. I may have slight delusions of grandeur with this piece, but I think it’s worth discussing!

These fossils were all found at Big Brook in New Jersey. From what I know, they should likely be from the Cretaceous period. I was unable to find much reference on what the following fossils may be. Anyways, thanks in advance! By the way, I didn’t want to upload too many photos at once, so please feel free to ask for additional photos of any of the specimens.

I plan on hunting the Marshalltown formation in New Jersey / Delaware soon. I can’t find what fossils to expect online. Does anyone have resources or know what to expect?

I read recently that some reworked devonian corals can be found mixed in with the fossils at big brook, and I wanted to post this old find to get people's opinion. Kind of looks like a lot of devonian corals I've found, but I had just assumed it was cretaceous because of the location.

Hi everyone, I found this at Ramanessin Brook today. I thought it resembled the crocodile scutes that can be found here but I've never seen one in person and I know that concretions can do really tricky things so I'm not sure. Thoughts?

Unknown from the Upper Cretaceous of Monmouth County, New Jersey. Tip has an enamel coating. I’ve done a considerable amount of micro collecting in our area and this is the only example I’ve found to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance - John
