I am a beginner and I know nothing about rocks or fossils. I found several very interesting rocks with fossils in my yard and small creek. I attached pictures of one that got me excited to learn more. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Also is there a good rock/fossils finder app? 20230713_111430.heic 20230713_111359.heic 20230713_111344.heic 20230713_111917.heic 20230713_111325.heic 20230713_111317.heic 20230713_111501.heic 20230713_111536.heic 20230713_111438.heic 20230713_111448.heic 20230713_111350.heic
  2. I found what I think is a bone head many years ago at Whispering Pines Camp in Franklinville, NY, which is in Cattaraugus County. It was sitting exposed at the edge of a small stream that runs through the camp, on a hill. I apologize for not having scale in the photos. The measurements are: 2.5 cm thick, 4.5 cm across at very top, 3.5 cm top to bottom as pictured.

    Western NY fossil

Hello! Back again with something I found while looking through my room. I can't remember exactly where I found it except that it was certainly in the Western portion of NYS. I most likely found it in a lake or river It's probably fairly simple to identify, but I don't know this stuff well myself or even what to search for online. Thanks for help!

    A fossil

I found this fossil on a vacation in shallow water at a lake a few years ago and have always been wondering what it was. I'm no fossil expert so I have never been able to identify it.
