The Mesozoic is an area that is sorely lacking in my collection. I don't know why, but I just never got around to collecting in it. I never fell in love with dinosaurs or mososaurs like a lot of other people. That was until fairly recently, when I finally took it upon myself to diversify my collection and get to know better my area's (and in some ways own backyard!) geology and paleontology. Last month my dad and I ventured to the site of the former Granton Quarry in hopes of adding some nice Late Triassic fossils to my collection. We only stayed for an hour and a half because there isn't much there anymore. Much of the fossiliferous layer has been carved out by collectors. One spot looked as if someone just scooped out all of the rock. We were quite fortunate to find a spot that had been missed or had only recently been exposed. We came close on two occasions to finding a complete Diplurus newarki, but no luck this time around. That will just have to wait until our next trip!

Hello! I was cleaning out the trunk of my car and found some material from a hunt at North Bergen NJ a few months back. I cracked a few open and found this one. My big question is, on the right side, is that a fish skull or just a coprolite or something? @Jeffrey P @Fossildude19 Thanks! -Frank H
