This here is a very odd partial fossilized something from the Upper Triassic Lockatong Formation of New Jersey. Not to sure what to make of it, it has a dark core atop with whiteish suggestive shapes. Not sure if this is bone, coprolite, plant or what not. Interested in hearing other opinions.

Wanted to share an usual fossil I self collected a long time ago from the Triassic of New Jersey that I can't really find images of elsewhere on here. This a fossilized large Gall wasp nest, took me awhile to figure this one out initially. I've seen fossils insects but its a pleasant suprise to see a fossilized insect nest.

Out of the countless New Jersey cretaceous crab claws I've seen and found this has to be one of the strangest claw partials yet. Seems to be an ornamented shell as apposed to the smooth claw textures that are typically found. Definitely a very interesting piece, anyone have any ideas on a possible species or if any ornamental crabs have found in nj cretaceous, or any other new jersey cretaceous hunters ever come across one similar? Definitely a head scratcher

Hi all, awhile ago I saw shark river had a sewer leaking into the stream and I was wondering if anyone has been there lately or could tell me if it’s open, there hasn’t been anything in the news about it since September and I’ve wanted to go there for a long time. TIA.

Hello everyone, found this mysterious tooth in a cretaceous stream in New Jersey. Haven't come across any similar or anything I can really compare it to, plus its kinda worn. Which doesn't help but the leaf-like shape alone is very interesting, hopefully this one can be figured out.

My daughter and I made it out to Big Brook today. A few fellow hunters out there but for the most part we had our area to ourselves. Water was still cold but new hip waders with thick socks were a nice addition to my kit. Found some of the typical items. Belemnites and Oysters (Agerostera mesenterica Morton & Exogyra costata Say). Also a few nice shark teeth and my first snail.

Hi! I hunt the creeks in and around NJ for fossils pretty frequently, but found one today that I've not previously seen and can't find any matching pics online for either. I found it in Ramanessin Creek in Holmdel, NJ. I was thinking maybe a fish jaw/mouth bone, but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kushmeja

Dear fellow fossil hunters, Joseph @The Jersey Devil and I went fossil hunting at an NJ Cretaceous stream on December 22nd and 23rd. On the 22nd I surface hunted, expecting a good wash out due to the previous night's rain. I had secured a section of the stream before realizing that someone had gotten to most of the stream before I had. Instead of continuing forward, I went back and explored some of the sections downstream that I had skipped. These too had been scanned so I ran back to my sifter that I had left upstream and then began sifting. Some hours later I was sifting and saw

Hey all, Made it to Big Brook Preserve today with my daughter. Water level was a little higher than last visit and water starting to get cold. We found some decent teeth. Nothing large which is typical for this area but some nice specimens with great coloring along with partials. Toss in a few Belemnites and it was a good last trip to Big Brook for the year.

Large Interesting Bone New Jersey Cretaceous? Scute? Dinosaur? Turtle?

Hello everyone, had a super quick trip to the cretaceous creeks of new jersey and found this particularly interesting large bone fragment, likely it is a chunk of miscellaneous bone material but it reminds me alot of a scute like ankylosaurus or some sort of other bone scute especially the edge, or from maybe something like a large turtle but I am entirely not sure if it's dinosaur, marine reptile, etc or if there is anyway to tell, looks super suspicious to me anyways so if anyone has any ideas I'd definitely love to hear them.
