Looking For Assistance Identifying Exact Species of Mortoniceras Ammonites

Hello all, I’m hoping the braintrust here can help me identify the species of two Mortoniceras Ammonite cast fragments I found this past Spring. They were located in an alluvial river deposit that runs through the Duck Creek and Weno Limestone/Pawpaw formations of Northern Tarrant County in north Texas. If my reading is correct, they should be mid-Cretaceous period and approx. 100 to 95 mya, but I would love someone to check me on that as well. The cast in the first three pics is fairly well defined with a prominent siphuncle ridge. The second cast (last four pics) actually has a small geode I discovered while cutting these down to display. I appreciate any help the group may be able to lend and I hope you all have a great weekend!

We had some pretty good rain earlier this week in north Fort Worth, so I figured I’d head to Denton creek and wade the gravel bars. All in all it was a productive day, finding a few ammonite pieces and some of the largest denture clams I’ve ever found. The highlight of the trip was the (almost fully intact) echinoid I spotted in about 4 inches of water… It’s only the second echinoid I’ve ever found and it’s by far the most complete!

Another noob question… I found all of these examples in Denton Creek (north Fort Worth) over the last few weeks and I’m trying to decipher what’s coral and what’s bone. Below are my best guesses, but I’d love to get a quick education on these. Pic 1 - Some sort of fossilized coral? Pic 2 - Some sort of fossilized coral? Pic 3 - Fossilized bone? Pic 4 - Fossilized bone (possibly petrified wood)? Pic 5 - Modern bone? I say modern because it makes a beautiful bell-like ringing sound when softly dropped on a granite countertop (while all the others sound like stone). As always, thanks in advance and I appreciate the wealth of knowledge this community holds!!!

I’m having some trouble identifying this one… I presume it’s some sort of bivalve and it came off a gravel bar in Denton Creek (north of Fort Worth in the Duck Creek Formation) but I can’t seem to find any photo matches on the inter-webs to identify it. Any thoughts on species? Thanks Paul L.

Hello all! Been fossil hunting for about a month now (still very new to this) and today marked my fifth trip. Today I also found my first pieces of Ammonite (two of them to be exact)!!! There’s nothing like hanging out in a creek and discovering things from millions of years ago. So stoked!!!

Hello all Still a bit of a newbie here but I stumbled across a couple things I haven’t seen before… The first find looks a bit like a vertebrae (pics 1 and 2)… Pics 3 and 4 are what looks like a segmented crab leg, but I’m just not sure what to make of it. It may just be my mind playing tricks (in both cases), but I was hoping to get the consensus of the experts here. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks, Paul L.
