Found this piece today on North Myrtle Beach. It has a neat pattern on it. It is a roughly 1/4 inch thick. It could possibly be a turtle shell fragment? That is my closest guess. Found on North Myrtle Beach.

I found this piece on North Myrtle Beach today. I believe it is a rib fragment of some sort. U have no idea what it could have come off of. I was guessing a dolphin or possibly a small whale. The shark tooth hunting today has been slow but have found a few fossils. Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated.

I know these are pitiful, pitiful pictures. Sorry! I am trying to identify and label my fossil collection. I was wondering if these were bonito fossils? I have about 20 of them, all found at North Myrtle Beach, SC. They are very different from Sea Robin skulls and other little delicate fish skulls that I have found. They each have two deep, vertical cavities and are dense. Thanks for any help identifying them!

Hi I would like to get an id on this beautiful tooth that I just found in NMB,SC. One side of the root is significantly longer that the other side. The blade curves "in" near the tip. In my limited experience, it looks like a short finned mako lower tooth. It is 2 1/16 in slant height. The center of the root protudes out. What distinquishing factors will lead to an identification for this tooth? Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

Hey everyone! I found this tooth in North Myrtle Beach while vacationing with my family. It washed up during high tide while I was playing with my kids in the surf. I’m interested in what type of shark this may have come from - my own internet searching leads me to think it is a great white tooth, though I’m unsure of the exact species (there seems to be a few different great whites). I want to know all I can find out about this tooth! I was absolutely ecstatic to find this thing, it is far different than all of the other smaller, black teeth I have found over the years. Thanks in advance!

For years I have wondered if the coral pieces that I have found on the North Myrtle beach area are modern day or fossil. If fossil from what time period. I have looked on the internet but have not found any clarity. I have found individual coral colonies and ones attached to various shells. The corals are hard stony in nature and are in rounded fashion not branching. I hope that someone can answer this which i would greatly appreciate. Does modern South Carolina have native corals and if so can anyone give me a reference to them as i cannot find any information.

Hello everyone. I stumbled upon this forum when I was looking to try to identify some shark teeth that I have found when I was vacationing last summer ('16 -- North Myrtle Beach) and this summer ('17 -- Surfside Beach, SC ... south of n. myrtle & myrtle). Found the black ones in the sand, by the water, the really white ones, I found in the softer, dry sand. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me identify some of these, that way I know exactly what i've found. Thanks in advance 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 2017 ^ Surfside Beach, SC 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 2016 ^ -- North Myrtle Beach, SC
