Hi all, my daughter and I found this bone in the north sulfur river up near the Dallas/ Fort Worth Texas area a few weeks ago. It seems to be a reasonably complete structure of some kind but I sure don't recognize it! I really appreciate any help!

North Texas (ammonites, etc) - Anyone want to meet up?

I'm considering traveling to Texas as my kids REALLY have the fossil bug right now. I am thinking to hit sites in northern TX near lake Texoma and north sulfur river area, as they want to find ammonites. I am sure I can find decent sites on my own, but if anyone in the area has suggestions, or wants to meet up to collect somewhere, shoot me a note. It would be somewhat a one time trip for us, since we live in South Carolina, and I want to make it worthwhile for them. And, I could certainly provide some reciprocal intel / guidance on SC collecting sites (Summerville/Charleston) where I have done extensive collecting. Thanks, Steve -
Looks like a vertebra to me. Anyone know what kind?

Last week I visited NSR first time since last year. It was brutually hot with 110 degrees on the river bed. There were no flowing water at all and most vegetation were turning brown. Also no signs of animals due to a drought. I managed to find piece of mosasaur vert though. Not worth visiting again until late fall or when it rains again.

My daughter and I went hunting in the North Sulfur River near Dallas, Texas. She pulled this strange bean looking bone out and I had no clue what it could be. After lots of googling, it seems clear that it is a patella of some sort given the faces on the back. The closest looking thing I have found was a black bear patella for sale, though that specimen was significantly smaller than ours. I did run a "burn test" to check for extant collagen and didn't detect any burning smell. Any thoughts?

I got a few NSR shark teeth and this one has me stumped. It’s small at 6mm and not complete but I think an ID is possible given it’s unique features. It has distinct folds and the cusp has an odd bend. I was wondering if it could be a Cretodus tooth of some odd position. That’s my best guess at the moment. I don’t think it’s Goblin or Sand Tiger. Ozan Formation NSR Texas.

This bone is highly mineralized, and when the crystal planes are at the right angle, the bone will flash at you. -

Total newbie at fossils and to this forum. Husband and I spent the weekend exploring the NSR in Ladonia Texas. Had so much fun and think I found some cool stuff. Definitely some teeth, some baculite? Maybe some petrified wood? Thanks in advance for anyone who is kind enough to respond.

Identification: Mosasaur teeth can be difficult to assign to a species. However, given the size of the tooth, it must be from T. proriger - the only Mosasaur in the formation large enough to produce this tooth. Notes: Shows feeding wear (pictured) with mostly complete enamel. Uncommon find for this formation/locality. Identifiers: This identification is supported by Michael J.
