Hey y’all, I found these fossils in my garden, in northern Illinois. The last two photos are the same rock, but flipped over. I can see some feint outlines of something, but I’m not sure if it’s a fossil or not. Anyways, I was wondering what they are and how old they could be! Thank you so much

Help identifying locations of Mississippian era formations in Northern Illinois
Joseph Fossil posted a topic in Questions & Answers
I've recently been trying to locate some new fossil sites (particularly those of Mississippian age) to go to and I found some places that might seem interesting. I found them looking at a slightly old geologic map of Illinois and I was wondering if anyone can tell me where exactly these locations are and if they are particularly fossil rich? https://www.mindat.org/loc-14607.html- 5 replies

found in a roadcut in Rockford. Lived in the Ordovician period. I'm not sure what it is but, it might be spines of a trilobite.

I am unsure where they originated from. But the 2nd one was found in my gravel area. The 2nd one reminded me of the favosite coral, but it is not as similar when I compared them.

First time posting here. I found this in the rocky side lot next to my house. The markings on it are intriguing and the curved shape reminds me of a beak.

This item was uncovered while excavating my basement in 2007. After watching a series of videos from the Illinois Geological Survey last year, I believe it is petrified wood of some early tree's growing in Northern Illinois between glacial periods. it weighs 17.2 pounds and its about 10 inches tall. It has a large flat area and another smaller flat area on its opposite. I don't see rings as you might see in tree stumps which is concerning. Rather it has vertical lines on most of it sides with interesting crevasses like an old tree limb might have. It is appears broken at the top with an

Hello all! I'm back again with some unidentified fossils. I was working in my garden this afternoon and stumbled across a rock containing a cluster of small fossils, ranging in size. These were found in Northern Illinois, close to where I found another shell fossil I asked about. All comments are appreciated! Thanks!

Hello everyone! I have another unidentified geological object. I'm assuming it's a fossil but I'm not sure. I'm thinking it's a sea shell of some kind? Since I'm an amateur when it comes to fossils I might be wrong. I found this around my farm in northern Illinois, so it very well could be just a chopped up rock. If it is a fossil, is it rare? All input is appreciated! Thanks guys!
