    Bison bone?

Hey Everyone, Found this yesterday out at the NSR. Although there were a quite a few modern bones around. I think it was a calf that died due to the skull I found. This stood out as being close in color to the other bison bone I found. Mass is much more than the modern bones found. Also had some of the black soil in it. I did the burn test and no smell. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  3. Got a little luck on Easter/Birthday. Finally found a good sized Mos vert. I’m assuming it’s a Tylo? ozan form 80-85 mya

    Mystery item, North Sulfur River

Hello! We went on a long drive to the North Sulfur River last week, spring break! It did involve a very cold overnight stay in a tent, in a field very close to some cows. Such a different site, and learning how to look was half the fun. It seems as if all home schooled children are visiting the site too, at the well known parking lot and access near Ladonia. We came away with some devil's toenails, two ammonite steinkern? pieces showing sutures and a rather large piece of rudist (more than 1 foot across, with some crystals, which promptly split in two on the way back up the bank, some of it is definitely just made of shale/mud. However, I also found this item, which I do not understand. Concretion? Crab? Piece of roadside debris? Do let me know if you can make any sense of it, or have seen something like it before. Cheers!

    Couple NSR To Identify

Hey Everyone, Went to NSR yesterday. Didn't have a whole lot of luck. Some others I ran into did. I have two pieces. One I think is petrified wood but would like verification. It is not like the normal pieces you find there and rather large also. Other I am thinking might be coral of some type. Thanks in advance for any help.

    NSR Vertebrate Unknown?

Hi Everyone, I've found several Mosasaur verts but this one doesn't match the anatomy of any that I've found before. I know it's damaged, but any ideas on what this is? 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: Thanks!

    Pholodomya lincemani?

Hey Every, I saw this last week while out at the NSR. There is a new exposed area about 20 feet up and saw this and an ammonite in the same exposure. It is right above the grey matrix. I got the ammonite but the slope was too wet last week. It was like ice skating trying to get to it. Got it today! Want to make sure my identification is correct and see how big these things got. I have the same species or similar next to it in a pic. Both found today. Same species maybe?

    Unknown Marine Reptile Tooth?

Hi Everyone, I recently found this tooth (in situ) and can't seem to place it. I haven't personally found another like it and after looking through various resources I am even more confused. It doesn't look like the other mosasaur teeth I've found except for perhaps a very thin platecarpus. Any feedback on an identification would be awesome. Thanks! 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: 6:

    NSR Hunt 3/15/2021

Went for a short hunt at the NSR today, with only a few finds - it's been a minute since there's been a good rain, and it seemed well-picked-over where I was looking. I found a few pieces of bone, including a couple of either finger bones or very small vertebrae. I also found a piece of flint with potential microflaking. Perhaps the best find is a potential large scraper tool. Bones in situ: I think this could be a scraper based on its general shape, material (chert), and the nature of the flaking - which only appears on one edge: Though, I am certainly not familiar with artifacts, so I welcome more experienced eyes.
  13. Hey everyone, Thought I would show my finds from a great trip to NSR on 3-13-2021. I was able to find a an area that has not been picked. Had a really good time. Find a few new items to add to my collection. Over 50 bone pieces. Eight verts of different sizes and degrees of weathering. Hoping that ammonite would of been whole but no luck there. I really like the clam stienkern. I have found a similar species in San Antonio but not this large and not this color. I pulled it out of the grey matrix. Is it Arctica roemeri or Protocardia texana?

  17. Sorry I have been crazy busy lately and unable to post. Here's a few of Northeast Texas finds my last couple of trips. Pleisosaur partial girdle, silver spoon, artifacts, xiphactinus tooth, mosasaur verts, old door knob, enchodus jaws, old hard hat, old bottles, ammonite, exogyra and my first crocodile scute.
