Hello to all my fossil forum Peeps! I wanted to share with you, all the goodtimes that I have had over this past summer. I have been quite busy since June and haven't been on the forum a whole lot. Summertime is also family time, and while there has been some fossil activities, I have had to put that aside for other activities that took precedence with my family. The Summer startwd off with my oldest son , David, graduating from High School. He will be going off to college this friday. We are all very excited and proud of him. In July we spent a few days in Ocean City, Maryland. Most of the time was spent at the beach, and eating seafood. Me and my wife got to spend an evening out at our favorite nightclub, "Seacrets". I love that place. Also we fished for flounder on a boat in the bay. Dylan caught 2 and I caught 1. On the way home we stopped by Big Brook N.J. which I already posted a trip report. A couple weeks ago my wife and I went whitewater rafting in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania. That was an awesome time! The state park was beautiful, weather was great, and the rafting was probably the best that we have done so far. We even had an Eagle fly directly over our raft, about 30 feet above us. Recently I started going fly fishing again, which I put off this spring because I was fossilhunting so much! I have managed to catch a few nice trout. Other then that there has been a lot off time in the pool, a few BBQ's and work. I hope you all have been enjoying your summer. I have missed participating on the forum, but when things slow down I will be back more often. I am posting some pics, I hope you enjoy. Dave #1- David on Graduation Day! #2- Devin, David, and friend, at David's Graduation Party. #3- Me, trying to look cool. #4-6- family at the beach. #7-8- getting ready to fish. More to come..........

HERE’S THE CHALLENGE! Please assist me by recommending the method you think is best for extricating fossils I know are present in the ocean rocks pictured below to the point of being “identifiable”. It has been tremendously frustrating for me to share pictures of rocks I know contain fossils, and even more so to be unable to photograph them or “clean them up” to the point where they are CLEAR. The only method of removing rock I have tried so far has been vinegar. I now have muriatic acid AND a Dremel. I have never used either before, but I have researched their usage AND “my youngest”, who is a chemistry wiz, will be home, and he has used both, (but neither on specimens that are this tiny. For example, #1 is about 1.75” x 1” OR 4.4 cm x 2.5 cm ) For rocks #1 through #8, tell me, based on the rocks, what method you think I should start with/which should be primary, for 1 or ideally for all 8. (And what kind of rock/mineral you believe it is.) Thank you! Karen

There are all kinds of dangers at the Ocean- rip currents, beach lice, Portuguese man ‘o war... There is also the danger of looking for “beach bling”, learning about fossils, and the inexperience that renders it difficult to differentiate fossils from Fidos.... Of course, there is always the possibility of a fabulous fossil find... what do you think? @GeschWhat. @Carl Thank you!
