I found this opalized fossil by a creekbank nearby. Looked like regular quartz until I cleaned it up. I wish I could show more detail in the pics, you can see squid of various sizes and tiny octopus, their suckers are iridescent. Also might contain crawdads/lobster and crabs, not sure. I'm looking for verification if possible and any extra info anyone can help me with. May send to GIA for certification to sell. Very minute detail and layered fossils, wondered if this might be a stomach of a marine animal or how this came to be made. Beautiful specimen.

I was fossil hunting for belemnites at Big Brook, NJ and found what looks like the very fine end of an octopus (??) tentacle based on tapering shape and the suckers (?). Seemed cool since soft parts are hard to find but I can’t find anything about octopi in these deposits. What else might it be?

ID of fossil needed. Concretion found lethbridge, alberta
Craig Zacharias posted a topic in Fossil ID
Concretion found in the lethbridge, Alberta river bottom. Broke it open to find a bulbous shell formation within. The Tyrell museum is looking at the photos but I’m curious if anyone could come up with an ID in the interim. IMG_4536.mov- 4 replies

-a little under 8 centimeters -tried to take my best photos: i don’t have professional equipment so bare with me. -a piece of it is chipped off, i couldn’t find the other piece -there seems to be this big, octopus shaped thing on the side with a black spot in the middle. I might just be getting eager, but could that be ink?
