Just wanted to share the results of the post crab cleanup I did using some acrylic paint. The first crab had a number of small dings. I wasn't able to find an exact match in terms of color, but the end result looks more like it could be natural variation in the color of the fossil, rather than screaming "here is where Neanderthal Shaman nicked the carapace"! I used a combination of bronze and brown, and added a little more paraloid to make it shinier, which helps visually wash out the color differential. With the second crab, I just added some brown to the little chipped areas. Again, not a perfect match, but much more visually appealing in my opinion. Before After Before After

Is my fossil from South Dakota a hyracodon tooth

Hello everyone this is my first post on the fossil forum.I’m 16 year old girl with autisum that loves fossils and I need help Identifying a fossil I got at a fossil/gemstone shop in South Dakota.I think it may be the rhino species Hyracodon.I also have a another fossil I got from the same place and I think it may be fossil horse or oredont tooth.So I would really appreciate it if someone can help me identify these.please and thank you.

Hi, Found in the shingle in the mid tidal part of Woodside beach (Just West of Wooton Creek/Fishbourne, see arrow on map image). Not your typical Isle of Wight fossil hunting location but happened to be killing time before the ferry and always have my eyes down. Geology is Bembridge Limestone formation and Bembridge Marls. I remember there was a wave cut bed of soft grey clay/mud exposed a few meters away to the east which extended north into the sea (Trying to stop kids getting it all over their shoes...). Any help identifying this would be appreciated it has a quite distinctly curved tooth like shape, flaring on the inside of the curve at the wider end, have taken lots of photos to try and show the curved and slightly twisting shape.

I'm restoring a titanothere cervical vert and process, and I want to be accurate. Can anyone suggest a research site? The sites I've found have the articulated spinal columns , which don't have the detail I need. I need at least a front and rear view. Thanks! Barb

Thought I'd share some angustidens I'd just received in the mail. Bought these online for 12 bucks including the shipping, don't know if that's good or not, but I'm happy! 3 teeth, biggest one is 1 5/8 inches approximately and the other two are 1 1/2 approximately. Came from the oligocene of South Carolina (no idea the formation, might ask the seller but I don't think they found it) they are a little broken, but are enough to be representive of the species (or chronospecies if you prefer). I'm trying to make a display showing the evolution of the great white and the megalodon, starting with isurolamna, to my knowledge the proposed common ancestor. I'm currently looking for representative specimens of most of them (chub, isurolamna, escheri, hubbelli, praecursor, etc PM me if you have one for cheap or maybe for trade, although I'm low on trading material right now) Sellers pics are better than mine, so using them! thanks for looking!
