What led you into the fossil hobby? Jurassic Park, this forum, collecting a large number of "dinosaur eggs" and "baby t rex skulls", etc.? For me, it was a book by Peter Larson called "Bones Rock." It was very basic, but introduced scientific thinking to me at a young age, and was well written for small children (as well as giving some basic information on collecting fossils.) Even before that, when I was a wee 5 and 6 year old, I watched the entire BBC "walking with" series. It's still one of my favorites today, even if some of the information is a bit outdated.

Last summer, I took a trip to North and South Lake campgrounds for a casual camping trip. While there, I snooped around my camp site and found these nodules filled with shells. What I was wondering was if these fossils actually came from the site I was at or if the rocks were imported to outline the camping grounds. North and South Lake campgrounds is here: The fossils look like this: Thank you for your time.

Dear FossilForum goers, I am wondering if anyone could provide me with information on the what the simplest or oldest fossils found are. There seem to be conflicting reports on the internet and I feel that this is a good platform to get answers. I am trying to do more research on and thinking about the origins of life and may purchase so of these fossils. Just a cool hobby or personal project of mine. If anyone has their own ideas on how life began please feel free to share, I really want to access the full scope of thought on one of the most interesting unanswered questions. Kind regards, Trevor
