It's been a busy summer out here in Wisconsin, but fortunately I was able to make multiple trips out to Oglesby in Illinois. Here were some of the top finds. Perepristis semicircularis, found on my second trip. The chip on the top was from my unlucky Dremel stroke. The white dots on the left are not damage, but tooth coloration. My first and only connularid, of unknown affinity. I'm pleased to have this despite it being fragmentary. What I believe to be an ameura trilobite pygidium, nicely preserved. Composita argentia found a ton of these, but this rock contained a nice presentation of them. This nice complete large brachiopod. I'd give a name, but I've seen it called like three different names in other posts, so I'm not sure myself. A nice whole neospirifer, mostly whole anyways. Lastly something I wanted to show, it almost looks like a younger smaller version of those giant brachiopods like from image five. I have about 50 pounds of rock from Oglesby now, and most of that has yet to prepped, which my family is really happy about seeing in the garage I assure you.

This was found in Eastern Kentucky in the creek behind my house. Carboniferous. I think it might be astertophyllites. Is this correct?

Found this in the creek behind my house in Eastern Kentucky. It's been raining (and flooding) a lot so tons of rocks are being washed out of the hills. I'm uncertain what era this could be from since I'm not exactly sure where it washed out from. The pictures I'm including show it while it was still in the rock and after I removed it. I thought it was made of metal at first, but it isn't magnetic at all, nor is it soft like lead or aluminum. After looking around online the closest thing I could find to it's shape is fish coprolite. Is this coprolite or just some strange thing in a rock?

I found the following rock and several other highly worn pieces in a creek bed that look to contain fossils of sea worms, etc., Fossils were found southeast of Fayetteville, Arkansas (long 35.68815 x lat -93.74751). Geologic timing - Ordovician? Rock is quite dense, and what was originally shale, is now metamorphic. The "segments", or wider features, measure the same thickness between seams, so i'm guessing this to be from a once living organism. Would love any ideas on this one!

Hi everyone, It has been a while since I've posted here as Family matters require changes in Priorities. I spend my fossil time at the Ohio Fossil Collector site on FB. A Friend has posted a recent find of hers from North Canton Ohio. This would be a Pennsylvanian age if it is not a Glacial Erratic from the North. The Central Fern/Fan like piece is the troublemaker. I have checked and not found anything close to this Fossil. I have checked Fossils of Ohio; nothing. I have google searched Fossil Corals of Ohio, Fan type corals but I do not think they were around yet. Searched the Bryozoa's, nothing. The stem area of this resembles an Aulopora, but none that I know of resemble the Fern like growth of this Fossil. It is covering a Coral under it. I don't see any patterns that would suggest a Crinoid. The growth pattern is interesting. It has a central core stem. Then branches out forming the fern-like pattern. The one photo enlarges well and shows all of it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
