Over the last year, I have really been enjoying collecting fossils in the rivers. I understand that you are not allowed to collect in the area inside a public state park. However, I'm trying to understand if I'm allowed to collect in a river that is in or borders a county park. I think the answer is yes, but I thought someone on here might no better. Thanks,

Hey everyone! I teach a paleontology class and I'd like to lead a fossil collecting class trip to Ramanessin Brook in New Jersey. Since I'm bringing a group that's more than 15 students would I need to obtain a permit? I know this is the case for Big Brook. Thanks for your help!

Permits To Collect On National Monuments?
DeepTimeIsotopes posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
With the designation of two new national monuments, several fossil and mineral localities have been barred from collection. In light of this, is there a way for amateur collectors to gain access to fossil hunting in these places? What does having a permit entail and require?- 101 replies
