Found in Northern VA on Potomac River. Black rock that looks like petrified wood. -
Hello to all. Although I exhibited this sample in the next topic, I think that it is worthy of a separate publication. For all the time of my finds, I came across such a sample for the first time. It is a long branch (about 80 cm) with a large knot in the middle. I had to tinker, extracting it from the red clay. It originates from the Araukarite Formation of the Gzhel Stage of the Upper Pennsylvania Carboniferous period (303.4 Ma). Found in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.

Hello to all. This is my collection of flora from the Carboniferous period. This topic will be filled gradually - there is a lot of material. All material originates from the Araukarite Formation of the Gzhel Stage of the Upper Pennsylvania Carboniferous period (303.4 Ma). Unless otherwise specified, it means that the default sample is from this formation. I found this piece at Douglas Point on the Potomac a while back. I set it aside for a snowy day not sure if it was bone or something else. Definitely fossilized, but a little weird for bone. Taking a closer look today at the recently broken end, I think I see growth rings. And maybe thin bark on the outside? Is this petrified wood? If so, it would be a first for me from there.

Greetings from Central Florida, friends. I found this piece today and I assumed it was bone because I find so many smaller, similar looking pieces of bone at this spot. On closer examination, one side seems to be cut pretty neatly. Can anyone positively identify this as bone or wood? If wood, is it palm? Thanks for reading!

This was found in a cave in Vance. It has a mineral growth on it that glows a neon yellow color under a uv light. The camera makes it appear green but here are some photos. Tell me what y'all think.

Hello! I inherited this piece with the idea that it could possibly be a space rock. I checked the magnetism and it has no magnetic properties whatsoever. After closer examination with an open mind and a little imagination, I see a petrified baby dinosaur laid on its side with its neck possibly broken at the base of the skull. Below what looks like the neck is a split section that looks like a chest cavity with a arm/leg on either side. . I found this here in Las Vegas, it looks to be a turtle head. I'm using a Chromebook for the pictures and unfortunately I don't have any other options to take pictures right now but there is faint yellow line surrounding the gums going around the eye. the same yellowish color appears around a kidney shape near the back of the head and seems to be in the same area the otic chamber is on turtles. on one side of the head it appears to have teeth marks which I have found on other "turtle" pieces in this same area. Found in NE colorado near an eroded stream bed. About 3 inches long.

Found this on 11/11/21 hiking near the shore of Lake Camanche in Amador County, CA. Camanche is a reservoir fed by the Mokelumne River and is pretty low this year, exposing some good rock hunting spots. Last year a ranger with EBMUD discovered fossils of mastodon, camel, horse and more in this watershed. We found lots of petrified wood and this one item that to me looks like a tibia or fibula because of the ridges that slowly spiral around it. All of the petrified wood was much lighter on the outside I believe from calcite. This item didn't have any of that on the outside, was much darker

Help with finding out the value how old it is the blue stuff on the petrified Wood is spray paint it was given to me like that.

I found this in in. Grove heights , MN. Where a huge amount of land was dug up and now is a construction site. I found it right after the ground was initially turned up . I believe it may of been old farm land or just unused land prior to the dig.

found this in the same creek as my giant petrified burl. Finding things in this creek that don't just crumble is rare. The land I live on is very strange with deep deep slopes and high drop offs in the woods. I recently learned a glacier carved out the land here so thats interesting and explains alot. Can anyone give me their opinions on this peice? It sounds like glass if that helps. Thanks!

Hello. I offer for trade fragments of petrified wood of the Carboniferous period with crystals of smoky quartz. Some samples are in the photographs (I did not upload all the samples I have, since there are quite a few of them - of different sizes and qualities, as well as the sizes of the crystals themselves. I think we can agree on what specifically interests you - I have no doubt that I will find the sample you need). The origin of this wood is Ukraine, its age is Carbon.
