I was reading about the mass excavation of coprolites in the UK from the 1800s to WW2 and was wondering if there is any modern coprolite mining still going on there. I can't seem to find any so I'm guessing all the mines are closed and boarded up but just find it surprising that something that was once so common that it was ground up and turned into fertilizer on an industrial scale can now only be found in museums.

.Hello, I would appreciate any information you can give me on this fossil. My father gave this to me many years ago. He was an avid fossil hunter in Florida. He hunted in the phosphate mines in Mulberry, Florida. He had quite a collection and even loaned some of his finds to the University of Florida back in the 1970's. I know nothing about fossils and don't remember if he ever told me what this is, If he did I don't remember so any help you can give me in identifying this will be most appreciated.This item is almost 2 1/2" long and 1/2" inch wide at the top.It has a letter B on it. I have a project on the go at the moment sorting through 1000s of fossil shark teeth from Morocco to make artificial tooth sets. Thanks to everyone who helped supply them. Well - I realised the actual process from the teeth being extracted to the end buyer is a bit of a mystery to me. What do the deposits look like in the quarry? What does the average collector go through to collect the teeth? What is the typical chain of transactions that occurs on the way out of the mines and Morocco.
