This is from a well known site (Yaopo formation, early to mid Jurrasic) in western Beijing, where Cladophhlbis, Neocalamites, Czekanowskiales,Baiera Coniopteris are the most abundant stuff. People also found dinasaur footprints here ( one of them was first considered of an earliest bird, until some raised the possiblity of a very young Theropoda individual). The oppositely paired leaves( leass than 1 cm for each leave) are found before, with no ID. This is the first time people could tell its is a vine-like plant. Any clue what it could be? anything similar found before for this period?

These items were found in some rock brought in from a local quarry. I am in Muskogee, Ok. I still need help with formations. Someone kindly posted a link to a geological site with formations but didn't know what to do or how to apply that information to my specimens. #1 appears to have four different types of plant or bark. Two on each side with what appears to be some shells or sea life forms in between. #2 Is just super cool looking to me. Don't know what they are. #3 is what appears to be an imprint of a plant or tree. It was suggested cycad? #4 is small tiny black dots. Took pictures with better phone. Will you let me know if you can see the pictures better on your viewing end? As always thank you so much.

L.S., Hope someone on TFF can help me with the identification of a plant fragment from the Lower Devonian (Pragian) of the Belgian Ardennes. The specimen in question consists of a 17 mm-long, 12 mm-wide oval-shaped body, which is seemingly covered in equant scales (though this could also be an artefact of the surface preservation) and has curved spine-like protrusions (see right hand-side of specimen in first two photographs). The detailed structure of the specimen is quite difficult to capture, so I added four photographs taken under different lighting conditions. Hope this is enough to showcase the main features. To my eye, the overall texture and "spines" do resemble those of Drepanophycus-like stems, which have been observed at the locality. However, I find it difficult to explain the oval-shape of this structure in terms of a stem fragment. This rounded shape gives it an almost strobilar appearance. The specimen is associated with long, naked axes having a smooth surface, present in the same slab of rock, but not in organic connection. Other floral elements encountered at the locality mainly include zosterophyllopsids. Are you aware of any scaled strobilar structures from the worldwide Lower Devonian to which I could compare my Belgian find? Or do you think this specimen should be interpreted as a (rounded) stem fragment? I'm really struggling with this one, so I would love to hear your thoughts! Kind regards, Tim

An acquaintance found this on a ranch outside of Roscoe, TX. I presume it's some sort of fern. Any chance we could narrow it down further? It's a lovely specimen with a special remembrance for the collector. Appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi everyone! I was just going over some of my Catskill fossils when I stumbled across this one, which appears to be two Holoptychius scales alongside lush plant material, especially on the other side (though you can see one stem to the right of the upper scale). The picture on the top is under normal light, the lower one with a bright light from the side to highlight some details. Could anyone help with ID?

A couple months ago I received a message from a friend letting me know of an opportunity to collect a usually inaccessible Mazon Creek site. The area used to be a popular with collectors but has since been reclaimed as a subdivision. A house was finally being built on one of the last undeveloped lots, and this meant spoil piles while the foundation was being laid. I initially planned to go later in the week, but instead decided to wake up early the next day and drive down. This ended up being a lucky decision, as the foundation was filled that very next night. The site was not superbly productive - I only gathered about a gallon of concretions for the two hours I was there. I have finally finished processing them, and although I did not find anything super rare, I am still thrilled to be able to add specimens from this site to my collection. The site Some in situ concretions Here are the finds I kept. Most of the other concretions were blanks or had poor quality plant bits. Annularia inflata Annularia radiata Radicites columnaris (an indeterminate root) A nice three-dimensional Myalinella meeki bivalve

Hello, I found these two plants in platy limestones on Dec.19.2021. in Bojići, near Trogir, Croatia. Geology is late cretaceous-turonian. Can they be identified tro some degree? Thanks

I was inspired by @Mark Kmiecik and his quality photographs to finally learn some basic image editing. I had this beautiful Crenulopteris acadica fern open yesterday and figured it would be a good specimen to make a first attempt. Let me know your thoughts.

Hi, I am having trouble identifying what appears to be a plant fossil. I found it recently at Ft. Gibson Dam in Oklahoma. The most tell-tale markings are in the lower right hand corner of the attached photo. Any I.D. will be much appreciated. Also does anyone know the formation? Pitkin Ls, from the Mississippian is at the dam, but my ROCKD app had the formation as Atoka, which is Pennsylvanian. Thanks to PetrolPete for guiding me to this site.

Alnus stenophylla Miocène (Messinien)Cantal France Thanks Marguy for this great fossil! -
The smaller specimen pictured opened this morning and reminded me of the larger specimen which I found earlier this year. They are very similar looking. My first thought was Cordaites borassifolius due to the linear striations, but the specimens are fragmentary and the preservation is not great so they could also just be indeterminate wood fragments. I don't think I've seen a Cordaites specimen in person before so I am not positive either way. Any thoughts are appreciated.
