Found on a beach walk near Port Townsend WA. Approximately 3.5" long with some enamel/varnish at the tip.

Dug this out of estuary mud (fully buried about 8ft out from high tide line) in NW Washington. I’m a newbie, been scouring galleries trying to get some ideas, may just be a fascinating mix of rock but the dark stripe portions strike me as bone or shell. Weighs about 3-4lbs.

My husband found this "egg" in a creek bank, in the Pacific Northwest of Washington State. It probably weighs a little bit more than a regular chicken egg, but not much. Seems light for its size. Thank you all in advance! Love this site!! I set it in a tiny tea cup to get good pics of the "ends" of the "egg".

Greetings. Location: Southern Washington State, in the Cascade Range, by a river. Geologic studies of the area suggest there was a massive landslide at this location over 1 million years ago. Present day it is a very wet area with lots of fungi. Material density and hardness appear identical to the petrified wood found at the same spot (highest concentration of petrified wood I've come across in the Cascade Range. I first thought it was wood until I noticed the direction of the lines seem to be perpendicular to how I'd expect tree rings to be. Reminds me of some sort of shelf mushroom, though I do understand any sort of petrified/fossilized fungus is extremely rare and unlikely. I look forward to your input.

Hello all! Browsing for a while just finished my first fossil intentioned trip to the Olympic peninsula a few days ago. I’ve been in Seattle since 94 and wish I had started sooner. I am a nurse by trade, although I spend my work time with people… I look forward to more Fresh air, dirty hands and beautiful drives, sign me up. If anyone knows of any local groups, meetings, outings or presentations any advice would be much appreciated!!!

i found this near a recent rock slide , it was interesting and different from everything around it and had been covered in dirt so it had just seen daylight recently after a very long dirt nap! Short sand beach, Oregon it passed the is it a bone test - porous / sticky it’s hard and would be very difficult to break it sounds like it’s got room for air inside When I was cleaning it, there was a very waxy substance in some of the thin cracks. It has this horizontal line but it’s not like a crack or a scratch so maybe part of a turtle scute? this round one is similar and was nearby if it means anything

Hi Everyone, This light (very light) lump was found on the shores of Haida Gwaii, Canada. Similar feeling to a shell? And a bit waxy. Any idea what it may be? Never encountered something such as this. Searching for a needle now to do the ambergris test. Thanks in Advance!

Hello all - My name is Patrick and I currently live in Portland, OR. I grew up in Houston, TX and have been collecting sharks teeth since I was a wee lad. My family visited Venice, FL annually from the age of ~12 up into adulthood - for the sole purpose of hunting the beaches for shark teeth. My father recently passed and my mother has moved up here to be near her only grandchild. I'm hoping to find a place in the PNW (NorCal to WA) to find some shark teeth. I read somewhere that Point No in WA is a possibility but cannot confirm. I'm open to any and all suggestions! Thanks in advance- Patrick
