My daughter and I went fossil hunting on Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Tx. We found a few shark teeth, a few Mosasaur teeth, and a few different shells and a couple of just interesting looking things. pics:

I spent a few hours each at the North Sulphur River Texas and Post Oak Creek Texas. I had a nice variety of cretaceous finds.

I found my first cretaceous ammonite at Post Oak Creek Texas. I find ammonites often at other locations but they don't seem to be common at Post Oak Creek.

There are four visible shark teeth in this one shot! Hint: three are right next to each other. -
Hey y'all, this is a shark tooth I found a couple months ago in post oak creek. I initially thought it was a cretodus, but now I'm having second thoughts. The 4th and 5th pictures are cretoxyrhina vraconensis and dwardius woodwardi, respectively. Thanks!

Micro shark teeth fossils found in micromatrix collected 9/28/19. Clockwise: The upmost orange one is nurse shark (Cantioscyllium sp.) with intact root, goblin (Scapanorynchus sp.), crow (Squalicorax sp.), Hybodus sp., and either Cretodus sp. or goblin. -

While I am more knowledgeable about fossils than when I joined, this thing is confusing me. It is porous with fine holes and appears to be bone, but it could be wood. Any clues?

Hey y'all. I haven't seen anyone post about POC microfossils, so last time I was there I filled a sandwich bag full of gravel. I looked through it yesterday and found a bunch of neat stuff: sawfish oral teeth (see gallery), tiny sharks' teeth, vertebrae, fish teeth, mastodon ivory (?), bone, etc. There's this one tooth that I can't i.d. I'm not sure if it's sawfish, I don't think it's a shark. Thank you!

Tiny oral teeth from extinct sawfish. I haven't seen many posts about POC microfossils, so I decided to see what's there. I filled a sandwich baggie with gravel last time I was there and found these and a ton of other neat stuff. Scale bar ~ 1 mm.- 2 comments

I hit my honey hole at Post Oak Creek Texas again. I found a few good Ptychodus teeth, another crustacean and my first giant armadillo scute. it was worth the 5 hr round trip.

Shark teeth, mastodon enamel, and vertebrae found in POC on 7/30/19. Found more teeth than last two trips combined! Unfortunately, I didn't find any ptychodus or cretoxyrhina. Scale bar = 1 cm. -

I recently took my 9-year-old daughter hunting at Post Oak Creek in Sherman, TX. We collected these about 200 meters upstream (NW) from the S. Travis Street Bridge. While she did not enjoy the bugs and frogs, we both had a blast finding shark teeth and other cool stuff. It was our first trip fossil hunting and I am complete uninitiated in identification. Can you guys take a look at these and let me know what's a fossil and what's a pretty rock? Trust me, she will be perfectly happy if they are all just pretty rocks. Besides what's pictured, we found about a dozen shark teeth and endless oysters. My goal for this post is to be able to more efficiently and accurately sift/sort through gravel the next time we go. Here is set 1. Item number 2 looks like a grinding tooth? Number 3 has a tooth shape, but no distinct edges. Number 5 looks almost like a coral growth. 6 looks like agate mixed with other stone.

Did I find a fossil Armadillo Scute in Post oak creek Grayson Co. Texas?

I came upon this beauty in Post Oak Creek, Sherman; Grayson Co. Texas this past weekend which looks like a very large Armadillo scute. I didn't think that they migrated into the north Texas region? It measures 1 1/2" long and 1 1/8" wide. Cretaceous, Lower Austin / Upper Eagle Ford Formation
