Hi everybody, Today I bring you pictures of what is allegedly a Pachy tail vertebrae with intact processes. I studied what has been found from Pachycephalosaurus and I'm struggling to place this bone along the tail, which is what the seller is claiming. I don't see where the processes are swept back like this one is. Could this be a different dinosaur? The same seller also has a Pachycephalosaurus rib which I'm also trying to figure out how to ID. Any help is appreciated.

What is the line between collecting and hording?
OregonFossil posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
I'm behind on processing my finds. VERY FAR. In Oregon collecting is strictly regulated. However, Talus alongside roads is "fair game". I maybe have 4 or 500 samples from the Keasy and Pittsburg Bluff formations (the only one's I collect). Most are in some stage of having the matrix removed. I almost went back out today even though I have this back log. But I know the talus will weathered badly here in Oregon if not recovered during the dry season. Does having more samples than you can process in a year, mean you are hording and not collecting. I know this will be different for each individual, but just looking for perspective on the issue. The Dentalium pretty much shows at what stage most of finds get to before I stop. This one is about 5mm long and perhaps .5mm wide.- 23 replies

Hi there everyone, I just wanted to get some opinions on something. This is supposedly a sauropod transverse process. Can anyone confirm or reject that claim, or just give me your thoughts? It just says “a Jurassic site in Wyoming”, so that could narrow down the potential family/species. I’m sure you can tell it’s apparently the top and bottom of the same bone, just broken and missing a bit in between. Thanks for any and all help!

Authentic Kem Kem Fossils? Composites?
eurichhhh posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello! I'm a new member and I was hoping I could get some second opinions on some Kem Kem fossils I'm thinking about purchasing. I've only collected American species, and have been recently interested in bones out of the Kem Kem beds. I've stayed away thus far because of the stories of composite fossils and Frankenstein pieces, but I've come across a couple that I thought were interesting and fairly priced. Was hoping I could get some other thoughts before moving on any of them (wanna make sure they aren't composites or areas of fill look weird). I've attached pictures of three specimens I'm looking at. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1) Spinosaurus Vertebra 2) Spinosaurus Rib I think this one is what it is, prep work doesn't look the best, but just wanted confirmation I guess. 3) Carcharadontosaurus vertebra (transverse processes) I was wondering if I could get help on confirming the id on this one, not really sure what carcharadontosaur vertebrae are supposed to be like. Centrum is missing, not sure if that's important for the id.- 2 replies

I have been lucky to find pieces of an ivory tusk (mammoth or mastodon) in the Peace River approx. 2 weeks ago. I have taken some photos to show what it looked like when found, two after consolidating showing how some large pieces fit together and then photos of the many loose pieces. I will have a nice jigsaw puzzle to work on once I consolidate the remaining pieces. I am hoping for suggestions on what glue or adhesive to use to try and rebuild the tusk. I have researched options that included super glue, gorilla glue and other adhesives. Which is best and easiest to work with? Photo #1 - tusk when found Photo #2 - three largest pieces consolidated with acetone and vinac. Photo #3 = tusk pieces properly aligned . Photos #4 & #5 - puzzle pieces to be consolidated and used to rebuild the tusk as best I can I will post progression photos and the final product when done. Thanks for any help on the adhesive/glue question.
