  1. Hello! I see this psittacosaurus skull on internet. It seems real? Is small the sizes are 6.5 5,3 4,1 cm Thank you so much.
  2. Do you think this is a genuine skeleton of psittacosaurus?
  3. Hi, what do you think about this Chinese specimen of Psittacosaurus? Genuine?
  4. Was just looking through online, and found this item. Now, to me at least, I cannot see if this is just a regular rock. There seems to be some sort of honey-cone (bone) structure in some places, but I just cannot see how this is a real deal psittacosaurus skull. Seems a little too good to be true. What are your opinions guys?
  5. This is a juvenile Psittacosaurus from Liaoning. Could you let me have your view on its authenticity and whether it is a composite? Thanks!
  6. So this has cropped up on an auction site. My friend is tempted by it, however I believe it to just be a rock. It is claimed to be a Psittacosaur Skull. The seller claims that they acquired it off a 'geologist' however to me, it looks like an eroded rock, and lacks any characteristics of being a skull? I feel like it could potentially mislead uninformed newbies? Pictures aren't fantastic. I could be totally wrong of course, however can anyone else see if it is a skull or not?
  7. This juvenile psittacosaurus is from Liaoning. Is it genuine?
  8. Is this psittacosaurus skull genuine? Is it intact?
  9. Any view on whether this psittacosaurus is genuine?
  10. Hello, I was browsing through our favorite auction site and stumbled on a psittacosaurus leg. The seller seems very reliable but I just wanted to make sure. Found in China Cretaceous Approx. 6 in.
  11. I found this Psittacosaurus specimen online, pretty positive it is a real fossil, however not sure if this is really a Psittacosaurus for various reasons. Here are the pictures associated with it, it was pretty vague with no location to where it was found, which is why I am posting it in the is it real because of lack of information.

    Psittacosaurus Prep

Here’s the prep thread for the juvenile Psittacosaurus that was discussed in the “Is It Real” section. This is very real although relatively poorly prepared originally. There’s a significant fracture running the length of the matrix just below the plane of the specimen. There are parts that are filled with some rather degraded glue, probably old epoxy. I’m glad I got this when I did as the glue holding much of it together is severely degraded. Here’s the little guy as I received it. First order of business was to stabilize all exposed bones and cracks with PVA. Then I started removing matrix around the tail. This is after only 1 hour. Already a big improvement.
  13. I got this 15 or 20 years ago, and have always been fascinated with it. Over the years, I've read different things that say "if you have a fossil dinosaur that looks like it laid down and died in a perfect position, then it's not real." So now I find The Fossil Forum, and it looks like there are folks here who know about these things, and who might be able to help me figure out the mystery. Any opinions? I really appreciate your help, thank you in advance!
  14. I was browsing through our favorite auction site when I found this for sale. Seller provided no other information about the fossil. The seller is from the US and has a good feedback percentage. Is it real, I have heard stories of psittacosaurus fossils just being sculpted bone mash...
  15. Hi This Psittacosaurus is offered for sale (from a collection in Germany, not China). The seller says that the bones have been found disarticulated and have then been assembled onto an artifical matrix. I was wondering if you could give me an opinion about the bones? Unfortunately I do not have better, high-resolution pictures. To me the skeleton looks pretty good. However, some bones of the feet and the tail are probably taken fromfrom another animal (darker color)? Also, there is probably significant reconstruction on the head?
  16. Hello. Good morning to everyone who participates in my favorite Forum! I bought from an American seller (never, ever from a Malaysian seller ), 5 articulated Psittacosaurus vertebra. I know it is most likely real, but my main doubt is where exactly these vertebrae fit into the skeleton? And in this same lot, I also bought the Pitsittacus ilium fossil: Everything 100% Real? Was it a good purchase? Thank you for all the answers.
  17. What is this fossil? Maybe a psittacosaurus?
