The fossil deposit of the Montâgne d'Andance, a freshwater maar, is located about 10 km southeast from Privas (Ardèche, France). It is an approximately 50 m thick layer of diatomaceous earth, which is now obtained by the company C.E.C.A. Diatomite in large-scale mining as a filtering agent.
