Hi guys, coming to you again as I’m still new at buying to add to my collection and came across what appears to be a good egg! I’m a fan of it and it’s fairly cheap, just under 4” but the owner admittedly got this in an estate so doesn’t know anything about it, would you recommend adding it to a little collection? And any ideas what group it may come from if it is genuine?

Hi guys, I’ve just been saved from a fake spino claw thanks to this site 🙏🏼 however I was wondering if teeth which have the enamel on and aerated edges are possible to fake? I actually believe the seller has bought from Morocco and been scammed himself with the claw but perhaps not the tooth?

Hi everyone This is my first post on this forum (and the first one on this type of forums in general :)) and I am here to ask for your advice. I recently received a present from a group of friends - a beautiful (for a total amateur like myself) ammonite. I am only not entirely sure if it is real or not, and therefore would very much appreciate your opinions in this regard. The ammonite's origin is said to be in Madagascar, but it was "processed" in Italy and sold by an Italian fossil gallery. I am attaching some pics and of course I can add more if necessary. There are some qualities of this specimen that create questions regarding its authenticity, but like I said - I am a total noob, so I might be wrong about my suspicions Thanks to everyone in advance, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Hi all. I am very new to fossil collecting and recently bought this Gerastos. I just wanted to make sure if it's genuine or not. Ive seen some people say that they are too common to fake but just wanted to be sure.

Howdy folks I'm still building my collection of Hell Creek fossils. This time I'm attempting to add three new specimens, that of Anzu Wyliei, Dakotaraptor, and a Troodon. I would be very grateful to get your opinion on the following fossils. The raptor teeth are labeled as "Dromeosaur Tooth" from Hell Creek I want to know if any of them look like Dakotaraptor teeth to you. As for the other two I simply want your opinion on whether or not they are genuine fossils. Today I want to talk about a problem that most people face when wanting to get a fossil at a lower price because of budget problem or what not, ... is it fake?, This is especially a problem on Auction Sites. When I was younger I thought if it said it was real it is real. I now know a bit more about fossils and how they can be faked to even fool scientists, so I guess you either have to scrape a bit of rock and try to expose a bit more of a fossil or get it X-rayed. I am no expert on fossil determination but I want you guys to give me some advice because I can usually only tell if the fossil is fake if it is obvious example (it has obviously different bones combined, carved and painted badly). Most fake fossils that were claimed to be real are from China and Morocco, but they normally do this because they need to make a living out of it so I am not saying they are terrible people. I personally only collect fossils that are real, and I am not interested in replicas. I have bought a fossil that took me a year to realize it was a fake. So I would like the experts to please leave some tips on how to tell a real fossil from a fake one please. best regards, indominus rex

Hello everyone! I recently saw this fossil for sale... I have always wanted a Keichousaurus, as they have always fascinated me. I think I found my chance. The seller is Dutch and lives in the south of the Netherlands (which is good for me when it comes to shipping). Do you think it's real or fake? The info given by the seller: Keichousaurus hui Xingyi, Guizhou, China 245 mya (mid-Triassic) Mudstones and silts from Guizhou Small restauration Hand-prepped "Like all dinosaurs keichousaurus belonged to the reptile family. Due to the heavy bone structure scientists think that these reptiles were about to make the evolutionary step from sea to land. These reptiles are slain as a result of a volcanic eruption about 250 million years ago. When the volcanic ash dried arose cracks. These cracks were filled with water, forming the calcite veins that you can see in the rock. Often breaking the stone plates on these veins. This copy has also been broken on the calcite vein that runs through the tail. This is expertly put back together. The keichousaurus is complete and unrestored." Hello is this ammolite real? The information I have says it was found in the Bear Paw formation in Alberta Canada.
