  1. I am looking into buying one of these parts of a mosasaur jaw and wanted to make sure there real. I believe there is, but getting a second opinion always helps.
  2. I do not have a lot of experience buying insect fossils and was wondering if this ancestor to the modern dragonfly fossil is real?
  3. I am looking into buying the fossil shown below and I was wondering if any one can tell if it’s real or fake. I am leaning more towards real, but I would enjoy some second opinions.
  4. Hello everybody I would love to hear your thoughts on those two Trilobites from KemKem/Morocco (I can't provide a more specific area). Any red flags visible? I can give more pictures with different angles and details. Just tell me what you need. And again: Thank you for the help First Trilobite in Matrix. Length 6,3 cm (2.48 in) Second Trilobite rolling around without Matrix Length 3,5 cm (1.38 in)
  5. Can you guys help me figure out if this Sinosaurus is genuine? It is on the ...auction site... and the seller has 4 total, they all look different from each other. I don't know enough (or anything, really) about these to determine if they're genuine or not. The description calls it a Sinohodrosaurus from a local auction, and that it has some reconstruction. I messaged the seller asking where it was collected and what the reconstructions are. I'll update if they get back to me!

    What is this?

Hey there! Today I've encountered this piece and I would like to know anything about it. Thank you!
  9. Hi all, I recently purchased this Keichousaurus specimen off an online seller (not online) and wondered if it was genuine or not... the seller stated that there had been repair to the matrix (don’t know if that shows up in the attached images:|) The seller also said there was no repairs, painting, carving etc and that the actual fossil was 100% genuine. Inspecting it with a loupe I could see the bone matter is raised from the matrix (slightly) and that there may be teeth present on the skull, but I don’t know if they’re painted on, as that is sometimes the case. Anyway I thought I’d come here to get it checked out as I’m not very experienced with fossils and fakes yet. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated Jai.
  10. Keichosaurus Hui I have today been for some time photographing my specimen it not the best but it is 100% real. Acid prepped in the UK. This is just to try and help our members out as a comparison reference specimen. I hope it helps. All the best Bobby

    Real Or Fake Megalodon Tooth?

Hi everyone, I just purchased this megalodon from the fossil store I work at (they are very kind trustworthy people). It looks pretty real to me and microscope pictures look real too (I can include if needed) I wasn't skeptical until I saw how uniform the broken basal looked. I heard fakes are usually perfect but maybe this fake is broken so people would assume it wasn't a fake? Anyways, everything looks pretty nice and real and there is even a slightly visible white spot under the black on the front of the tooth (where maybe the real enamel underneath is showing.) Please, any feedback would be great.

    Reptile

The following fossil is offred on a local website. Would be nice to know what kind of fossil it is. The seller doesnt has any idea.
  14. This is my first time posting on this site. I have the opportunity to purchase a potential Dromaeosaur type dinosaur fossil from the Yixian Formation of China. I know there are laws about exporting these types of fossils but the dealer assures me it has been in his possession for a long time. Also, I am willing to take the risk to own an incredible piece of history like this. However, I am not sure if the fossil is real. Based on what I have seen and read the fossil looks like the real deal but would like some other people's advice about it. It is described as a Dromaeosaur type dinosaur which is what the skeleton looks like but would like anyone else's opinion on whether it is authentic or not. Thanks for you help! -Ryan
  15. Hi, I saw this jaw section for sale and was wondering if it’s legitimate and if so, what is it? It measures approximately 6.5” x 4”. There is no collection data with it. thanks.
  16. How do these fossils look? Descriptions have been screenshotted.
  17. How do these pieces of amber look? The sphere is from Russia and the other one is Dominican blue amber. The sphere’s weight is 1817g
  18. I recently purchased an old collection, init there was this piece determined as a pachypleurosaurus edwardi, trias, Monte San Georgis, Besano-Tesino, Italy. Is this a replica or the real thing? The fossil seems to be pasted on to some wood for stability...
  19. I saw this sinosauropteryx for sale but to me it looks very fake. I wanted to double check if there is a slight chance of it being real. My hopes are not high as it said there were 5 in stock.
  20. Hello everyone. I saw this sinovenator changii skeleton for sale but I heard fakes of these are mass produced. Is it real? (As far as I know this is legal as it’s on an American website I think)

    Is This a Spinosaurus Vert?

I found what looks to be a deal on one of my favorite auction websites! Could it possibly be another Spinosaurus Vert?
  22. This Keichousaurus looks different than most; am thinking of buying it. What do you all think about it? Anything fake looking about it?
  23. Hi there everyone. I'm pretty new to this hobby and, as many of you, I'm interested in all kinds of old stuff. My question is probably very lame, but I found these specimens for sale in an online auction website and it doesn't seem genuine to me. Actually, I got the feeling it was "painted" or something like that. So, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. Also, any tips on how to recognize real or false items via pictures would be extremely welcome. Thank you very much in advance, (Sorry for my bad English) Juliano
