  1. Hi all, First time fossil buyer. Purchased what appears to be a Spinosaurus tooth. This is a birthday present for my little boy who’s dinosaur mad. Wondered if anybody could shed some light on if they think this is real or not. The website notes it’s from Morocco and advised proof of authenticity will accompany the tooth.
  2. Hello all, looking for some opinions on this piece. Not worried about it being composited as long as it is all real cave bear bone and nothings cast. Thanks in advance and happy New Year!
  3. Hi everyone! I recently bought a collection of fossils that happened to include a Mosasaur tooth. I'm aware that Mosasaur teeth are very rarely faked since they're fairly common but mine has a "root". I was wondering if anyone could help me identify whether the tooth is real or not and if the root itself is authentic? Thank you!
  4. My new Spinosaurus Aegypticus tooth just came in. And it's a big one! Over 4'5 inches / 11.5 Centimeters long. Was wondering if you can see any doings with it? So far i can't.
  5. I just bought a megalodon tooth and could use some help. Is it real? I'm new to fossil collection.
  6. Hey Guys & Girls Im a novice when it comes to fossils & would appreciate your input. Stumbled across this fossil 22" Mossasaur Jaw for sale & wondered your thoughts on weather it looks real or fake. Kind regards Chris :0)
  7. Hello everyone, This is my first post on this forum. I've found this impressive Sabre-toothed cat skull for sale. Can you help me to identify this fossil and if it is genuine? It said to have less than 10% restoration on the maxilla and around 25 to 30% on the jaw. Any comment or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
  8. Hi All! I am new to fossil collecting and I recently bought a Carcharodontosaurus tooth from an online fossil store. I just want to double check with more experienced people to see if the tooth looks real and is as described by the seller. The description said it is from the Kem Kem deposits of Morocco, and has no repair or restoration. The tooth is one and 1/16 inches long. Thank you for your help!
  9. Hello everyone! Me and daughter bought an ammonite fossil in Italy (mount vesuvius) this summer. We are totally naïfe and far below the level of knowledge of an amateur. Can anyone tell us if it’s a real one or a fake one? Thank you all for your precious help. best regards
  10. Hello, I'm following this spiny trilobite. Is there anything i should be wary of? How do you think this specimen looks. Thanks in advance !
  11. Hello ! And thank you for accepting me on this forum. Ive just bought my very first fossil, after some discussion with some collectors ive decided to post this fossil here. Because there are alot of fake ones of this species. If anyone could help me with this fossil i would be extremely gratefull as im learning every day ! So all the tips given are very helpfull to me . Ill post the pictures of the fossil below (PS, if it arrives or is proven fake i will get a refund, the owner also send me a video with solvent rubbing on the fossil to show its not paint) he also states there will be a chinese certificate with it. Thanks alot in advance ! Fossiel - On matrix - Keichousaurus sp. Trias - Boven Trias (201.3-251.9 miljoen jaar) - China (ordered from taiwan)
  12. Hello! I'm a new member and I was hoping I could get some second opinions on some Kem Kem fossils I'm thinking about purchasing. I've only collected American species, and have been recently interested in bones out of the Kem Kem beds. I've stayed away thus far because of the stories of composite fossils and Frankenstein pieces, but I've come across a couple that I thought were interesting and fairly priced. Was hoping I could get some other thoughts before moving on any of them (wanna make sure they aren't composites or areas of fill look weird). I've attached pictures of three specimens I'm looking at. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1) Spinosaurus Vertebra 2) Spinosaurus Rib I think this one is what it is, prep work doesn't look the best, but just wanted confirmation I guess. 3) Carcharadontosaurus vertebra (transverse processes) I was wondering if I could get help on confirming the id on this one, not really sure what carcharadontosaur vertebrae are supposed to be like. Centrum is missing, not sure if that's important for the id.
  13. Just received this polished stegodon tusk from indonesia and would like to get some opinions about it. never had any issues with this seller. But who knows. Its around 60cm and 7-8kg
  14. I purchased this ammonite a few years ago at a store it was supposedly found in Utah, U.S.A. Now I'm wondering if it's real or not. Any input is appreciated.
  15. Hello i saw these claws to sell, the left claw have some red flags but the right claw looks great so i have doubts about it. What do you think about the right claw ?

  17. Hiya everyone. I’m thinking of buying this fossil collection just wanted to know if any of them are real of if they are reproductions. Thanks
  18. Scratthecat

Is this a real Spinosauraus tooth?

Hi all, I bought this from a car boot sale, from a seller who sells fossil's. The seller said it is a spinosauraus tooth. I had a look online and saw that spinosauraus teeth are typically rounder, whilst this is very pointed and quite thin. The seller did sell larger round ones, as well as these smaller more narrow teeth. I chose this one as it was the least broken. I can't really identify what a fake tooth would look like. Could someone tell me if they think this is a real tooth or not?
  19. Hello there. I'm new to fossil collecting and just wanted some help with identifying if this is a real spinosaurus tooth or not. The seller advertised it as real and claims it comes from Morocco. I was recommended this seller, and they've got good reviews, but I think I'm just a bit paranoid after reading a lot of stories about fake fossils. Unfortunately I can't remove it from it's case so I can't show off all the angles. Any help is much appreciated. I'm also new to this site, so if I'm doing this wrong, I apologise!
  20. I not too long ago bought this piece. The seller told me it was an authentic Juvenile Basilosaurus jaw. But I am a bit worried it's not real since a lot of jaw parts can be casted or faked. Can anybody help me? Size is about 15CM
  21. Came across this 6 inch Megalodon tooth on the internet. I have suspect this is a replica since the colors seem off to me but not sure. Its also stupid cheap or a clear replica.
  22. Hi! I would like to buy this Keichosaurus, can anyone tell me if this is real? thank you!
  23. Assert for bugging everyone with a topic like this, but are these dinosaur eggshells real? I know some of the photos are extremely blurry but it’s the only ones I have and the seller hasn’t got back to me yet for extra photos.
  24. Hi everyone! I recently got this Paratodus Benedini tooth from South Carolina. It appears to be around 2'4 inch big and my question is it 100% real? I do want to know if this one is genuine before actually doing it of course. Thank you for the comments in advance!
  25. Hey all, its been a while since ive been around but fossil season is finally here in NJ! I recently sold someone a chunk of Dactylioceras ammonites from Germany. Its not the best piece but I thought he got it for a good deal and they are harder and harder to find. Now he sent me a message saying he does not believe it is a fossil. So I hope I am okay for posting this here. One of his concerns is the little residue in some places but I believe it was slightly used to preserve better in some spots. Thought it would be decent to post this here.
