  1. Hello, and thanks to everyone who helped with my last trilobite that I had inquired about. I had a bad feeling about it from the start, so I wasn’t surprised that it turned out to be mostly fake. I have a few more trilobites here that I’ve acquired over the years that I was hoping to get some more opinions on, and if possible maybe get the species identified, as not all of them were identified when I bought them. I'll start with just this one for now (I was going to post more, but I seem to have reached some file limit and can't post any more photos in this thread). It is about
  2. Hi Guys and Girls, as you can see im really a new member. im currently searching for a good Carcharodontosaurus tooth and i found this one. It would be great if you could tell me if its real or not and in which condition it is and for which price i should buy that. best regards, this forum is phantastic! Phil
  3. Hi! I’m new in the forum. I'm an Italian naturalist, sorry for my english. I wanted to ask for an opinion about this spinosaurus tooth .. I don't think it's a single tooth, in your opinion how much is it composed and restored? thanks!
  4. 3.6 inches. Some restoration on the tip.
  5. Hey guys, Recently my friend bought a trilobite and the seller told him it was a reedops, but I checked some pictures on the website and found that it should be a drotops? Both eyes showing good details but still quite doubt that this one is a fake trilobite cuz the seller just gave him a wrong information. I don't have any experience on how to recognize these kind of fossils. The last picture was send to him by the seller. Please help me T T Many thanks!!
  6. Hey guys, does anyone know of any good fossil selling websites? I have seen a lot of websites but none that I’m really fond of. (I’m into collecting dinosaur teeth and claw). Please let me know

    Replicas vs real

Hey guys, has anyone here bought a fossil replica? If so does it look like the real thing? Does it feel the same? I’m thinking of buying some replicas because I can’t afford some real fossils.
  8. Hello everyone, half a year ago I bought this Phareodus fossil. I am extremely happy with it and know it’s real, but my question is how much, if any, has been retouched. There is obvious putty in the center of the fish to glue it together. There is a noticeable orange glaze over it which I’m wondering is just to keep it from getting scratched or damage. Thanks
  9. Hello are these real. I got this offerd to me and want some opinions Thanks After some time away i want to start collecting again
  10. Hi there i continue to maintain my very very amateur status but I've been trying to read the different threads on here regarding spinosaurus jaw and what I gathered so far is pitting is reflective of croc jaw and if it only has a single socket or also makes it difficult to determine if its spino or croc. I found this one on our favorite auction site and wanted to get your opinion
  11. Once again I am back to ask if this onchopristus tooth is real.
  12. I have been trying to look for an onchopristus numidus tooth to complete a collection of mine and I am unsure if these are genuine as it is from a website I am unsure about.
  13. I bought this one already, my very first fossil of any kind. Is there anything that sets off any alarms? I know people usually enquire about longer teeth which might show signs of extension, but I would feel better just making sure. I also have my eyes set on a batch of 5. From what little I've researched, those 5 set off more alarm bells but I'm at my max total for attachments.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm new to the site so hopefully I read all the posting rules correctly. Having said that, I was given this meg tooth as a gift. I am unsure however if it is real as it's missing the serrated edges and has a remarkable polish that gives it a glassy texture. I am not aware of any restoration methods or what not when it comes to selling to the general public so I can only go off my own knowledge of meg teeth. It's also heavier than my phone. Is there anyone who could maybe point out some red flags (or green ones!) to let me know if she was sold a replica? I
  15. I am looking into building a project for my partner, and she loves the Stegosaurus...so I go looking at whats out there....seems like fossil dorsal armor plates are extremely pricey and other fossils are rare. I know many of them come out of the Morrison Formation and I found some small fossils for sale that claim they are neck scutes...but they are VERY small and the price seems ridiculously low for how rare they are supposed to be. Is there anyway to tell if these are real and actually from the correct species?
  16. Just got an offer for this 5 Megs. Do they look suspicious? I don`t have any experience with Megs from this location. Thanks
  17. Hello clever people, Got these from online. Let me know what you think of them, are they fake? Especially the Spino... Thanks! JP
  18. This is the second item I purchased. It’s about 6.5” from Kem Kem in Morocco, any idea if it’s real, seller claims this is world-class and has minimal restoration, and the tip is natural
  19. Hello, I was offered a couple of fossils and this is the second one to the previous keichousaurus post. It’s a fossil frog, genus Liaobatracus, from early Cretaceous, Yixian formation, Liaoning province, China, exported in the 80s. 20 cm. Any ideas whether it’s a genuine piece. These are the best photos I was able to get. Best wishes
  20. Hello all, i was offered this keichousaurus and was wondering if someone has an idea if it’s authentic, judging from the photos only. The seller describes it as museum quality. And it’s supposed to be seven inches. These are the best photos I was able to get. It is supposedly from China from an old collection exported in the 80s. Best wishes
  21. Could experts share the primary indicators to check for regarding authenticity of a Mosasaurus jaw specimen? - specifically root / tooth junctures. I’m aware of the sophistication of fakes in the market. Below is a recent purchase - I’d like feedback on details to look for in verifying authenticity. Thank you!
  22. hallo community! few days ago i ve bougt a mosasur skull on an auction. Could anybody help me by giving me some informations about what actually i own now. As you see i am not an expert but i am very interested in fossils. thanks for your help.
  23. Hello all, I saw one seller online listing this piece for auction. I'm interested in bidding but the fact the seller is from Taiwan worries me. Other than that, the egg looks nice. Seller says it might be a small tyrannosaurus or large therapod egg. Locality is noted as "East Asia", which I assume is china. And the description says this is from an old Chinese collection exported in the 80s. Cretaceous of East Asia. Best wishes

    Dinosaur Coprolites from China?

These are being sold on online for $10 as dinosaur coprolites from China. Any opinions?
  25. Hi, I just noticed this fossil and wondered if it was genuine? I noticed it had no location details. Thank you.
