Authentic Burmese amber?
Nichet1122 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I collected burmese amber. Surprisingly it had dinosaur feather. But I'm worried if this burmese amber is real. How to identify real amber? I heard real thing floats in salt water, after doing that, it really did. Is there any other way to identify real one? -

Spinosaurus tooth good or bad?
Johnf692 posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
First time poster to this forum, though have enjoyed reading through all the many topics. I received this 3” spino tooth as a gift and the more I read all of the other similar questions regarding real or fake, how good is it, etc., I got curious about mine. Paperwork says it’s from the Kem Kem beds, and my uneducated eye thought it seems to be in good shape, without too much restoration, but I’m curious to see what all the experts have to say. Your thoughts would be much appreciated!- 4 replies

Hi, Just curious of everyone's thoughts on this Oviraptor Egg? Locality : East Asia (Cretaceous) Species : Elongatoolithidae That's about all the information I have from the seller along with some pictures. He states that the egg is 100% genuine and if proven otherwise there will be a full refund. Some glue was used to stabilize the shell. Thanks E1.bmp e2.bmp e3.bmp e4.bmp

Cave Bear Jaw - Real or Fake?
FossilsandScience posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hey everyone, I just got this beautiful cave bear jaw and I was wondering if it is real. It was found in Romania. Three of the teeth are a bit loose from the jaw and one of them can actually be removed. The tooth that can be removed is hollow. It looks like a juvenile due to the fact that not all of the teeth have grown in yet. Do you think it’s authentic? Thanks! -
Hello, we asked some of our friends to see if they could find us a nice fossil overseas. It was meant as a surprise for me from my parents, so we couldn't see the fossil beforehand. First of all, they say the fossil is "painted" to bring out its features, this already sounds very fishy. Secondly, the rock it is on looks like an igneous rock, I thought the fossil baring rocks where supposed to be sedimentary. They took the fossil to different stores to verify its authenticity, but few people said it looked fake. I would like to know because it was quite expensive for an ameture fossil collector, and especially for a fake! If it is real, which is doubtable, then is there any way to remove the paint?
