Hello everyone, I inherited this beautiful and big fish (90cm / 35inch) from my grandpa. Unfortunately without any information where this comes from. It looks like a lot of work and restoration has gone into it. I would be very happy if the fish got a face- Thanks in advance

Restoration and prep of a Manticoceras sp. Goniatite.
Manticocerasman posted a topic in Fossil Preparation
Before going back on my field trip today I had a few projects to finish. so last week I tackeld a broken goniatite, the specimen was in 2 parts and and large gaps were between the 2 parts. first I prepped the 2 pieces appart and then glued them back together. Then I filled the gaps with crack filler that I mixed with a bit of black paint. after this dried, I cut of the exces with a sharp knife and smoothed the surface with a a dremel with soft steel whire brush. I then finished it by adding some paint on the restored parts.- 6 replies

new cenomanian ammonite prepps and restauration
Manticocerasman posted a topic in Fossil Preparation
on the last fieldtrip from this saturday I got a new batch of ammonites to prepp: the first one was realy easy to prepp, it was a small but well preserved Schloenbachia varians. next up is a Mantelliceras, I broke it in 3 pieces when extracting it from the chalk. I let the specimen dry at home and glued the pieces back together, I then prepped the specimen. After this step I grinded the some matrix residue left from the matrix and mixed it with a little bit of water and PVA glue, I used this mixture to fill and restaur the gaps in the ammonite. once dry I gave the ammonite a Paraloid B72 treatment for consolidation. I'm very pleased with the results- 5 replies

Hello, I bought this nice meg tooth on megateeth.com a few monthes ago. According to the seller the tooth has no restauration at all but I have the feeling that there may be some restauration on the bourrelet. I asked the seller by email to confirm me that there was no restauration once I received it but got no answer which let me think that it is indeed restaured. Do you think that tghis tooth is restaured?
