Two days looking on the NSR and pickings were tough. A lot of folks out and about not paying attention to the stay at home order. Wait, that means me too.... Found this above Idonia. Have all others picked identified along with a nice quartz crystal and a Trigonia sp. duo. This one has me stumped. Looks like a very worn bone fragment but is the wrong color for that area from everything else I have grabbed. Decent sized thought. Might be why it was still there in a heavy traveled area. Maybe a palm tree? If by chance it is bone any idea of what species?

Found what seems to be a tooth in the Big Sioux River just inside the border of Iowa. Hoping to figure out what it's from. It appears to have a sedimentary formed abscess on it which leads me to believe it may be older. It's about half an inch tall and roughly just as wide

Hello everyone, Does anybody know what this might be? Found in a stream in the forest in the region of calvados, Normandy,France. I have never found anything like this. U cant really see the details of the thing sticking out of the spongelike matrix in the pics cause my camera is not the best. But here we go:

Hey everyone. Found this today while near Ladonia State Park. I originally thought it might be the piece of a jawbone with a broken tooth. Clean up and not so sure now. Any help would be appreciated. Any chance on a species if it is a piece of jawbone?

Several of these are imbedded in the sandstone on the shore of a man made lake on the Missouri River. They are of varying size but fairly consistent shape. They are generally half-exposed as this one was. Any ideas?

Greetings, This is a vertebra found in the same vicinity as my last post, Kansas River, South Side, just North of Desoto, Kansas. It is very "sticky" when wet finger is applied. No odor when flame tested. About 2 months ago, I found this in the Kansas River, under a submerged stump at the end of the sandbank. It was found in conjunction with another vertebra that I posted separately. The location was on the South side of the River just north of DeSoto, Kansas. As it started to dry out in the dry indoors of winter (despite the humidifier on my heating system), it began to flake apart...the surface patina that is. Measures: 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" =10.8cm x 8.2cm I cannot guess age. Any ideas? Thank you all kindly in advance.

Greetings, About 2 months ago, I found this in the Kansas River, under a submerged stump at the end of the sandbank. The location was on the South side of the River just north of DeSoto, Kansas. I found it along with another large vertebra which I will also post separately. As it started to dry out in the dry indoors of winter (despite the humidifier on my heating system), it began to flake apart...the surface patina that is. The measurements are as follows: 11.5" (L) x 3" (W) at its widest width. I suspect it is a bison, since these are the most common. I just don't have a clue as to age. Secondly, is there a way to prevent the further flaking apart? Thank you all kindly in advance. PS: having trouble shrinking enough images to the required size limit.

I took a trip yesterday (Easter Sunday) morning to a few river sites in a neighboring county. The first spot I went to is a Pliocene exposure of zone 2 Yorktown Formation. While I found the normal culprits of teeth, mako's, hemi's and a small meg; it was the unexpected find that made this trip. While I have found fragments, I have not found anywhere near a complete echinoid there. Well Easter changed that, the Echinoid Bunny left me a good egg. I found a gorgeous complete Arbacia improcera. A rare Pliocene echinoid, my first. As found: after the first cleaning: second cleaning: third and final cleaning:

Hi everyone! I am a long time lurker of this community, I browsed these forums endlessly on advice, pictures, and video from many members who made me feel really confident in going out and actually getting into rockhounding. Me and my fiance wanted to document our trip to the Peace River in Florida. So we did. This is our first upload to our channel, and hopefully we will be uploading more as we go on more adventures. My goal with this video was for people to be able to see what it would be like to pull up to a boat ramp and go look for sharks teeth. We found a really nice young whale or dugong vertebrae, its a beautiful peace . We have only been hunting these past couples weekends as the water level has been the lowest its been since we've start this hobby and we have been pleasantly surprised with the kindness of the people around us, but also the success we have had in the river. We found our first juvenile meg tooth on our first dig in the river near the brownville boat ramp. It was super fun and now im really hooked on this river! I have attached the video below, let me know what you think? Youtube Link!

I recently found this mammal tooth along Peace River in Florida. It is just the cap of the tooth with no root present. I'm having trouble identifying it and was hoping someone would recognize the tooth and what animal it may have come from.

Out for my normal weekend hunt. A lot of baculite and ammonite pieces around. Have two that I need help with. Both were found in the river just north of Ladonia Fossil Park. First one was found in 6 inches of water on a material pile. I found three of the following. All three different colors. This is the darkest of them. Others were beige-grey and lighter grey. All had pieces of baculite and other material mixed in. All were around the same size.

I have a few oyster clusters, bone cluster and verts that have the grey matrix from the North Sulfur River, TX. I have used vinegar to remove some. The rest is tough to get off. I can grind my heart out but was hoping someone here would have a suggestion to remove this stuff.

Found in a river near the north central part of Ohio. It looks like a full leaf to me. Can there actually be a fossilized leaf? I could google it I guess but I’d rather have your opinion and find out what it really is. Thanks for all information!

I normally find small pieces of black and the 2 or so inch red baculites at NSR. I found this today and want to make sure I label it correctly. Not sure if this would be the same species as the black and small reds as it is much larger than those I have found. Thanks for any help in advance.
