I found this bone (?) fragment over the weekend in the North Sulphur River bottom. It's a little over an inch long. Any clue what it may have come from? I have another larger piece, but I don't think they are connected. I will post that as well.

Hi, I'm a beginner with fossils and recently purchased a Knightia fossil for 50 New Zealand dollars. When I got home I took a look and noticed it appeared painted. I've researched and apparently people often paint over to enhance it and make it look better. The question is, is it fake? I don't mind if it's painted over for looks but I will be disappointed if it's completely fake. Has to be painted, now I'm just wondering whether it's a genuine fossil or not

This tooth came out of the mud shattered and I reassembled the pieces I had. It was found in Florida's Peace River in a mix of miocene and pleistocene material. It measures approx. 2.25" wide x 2.25" long x 3/8" thick.

Greetings to all. I found this little mammal jaw fragment last week and I have yet to identify it. I have done some research and haven't found anything that matches it, thus far. Small mammals are definitely not my area of experience (assuming I have any at all). So, I decided opt for the lazier option and let those with more knowledge do the work for me Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me say that the pics might not be the greatest, so I apologize beforehand. The camera on my phone can only do so much with the little stuff. Needless to say, it was found in a local creek in Southwest Florida close to where I live and the dime was added for scale. Thanks!

I'm looking for the latest info on preserving tusk material. I found some associated chunks in the Peace River in Florida yesterday and they are extremely fragile. I'm keeping them in water until I know how to proceed. I have, on hand, some Butvar B-98 crystals but I've had trouble getting them to dissolve in acetone. Is there a trick? My understanding, also, is that butvar cannot be used until the fossil is completely dry. I would appreciate any input on this subject. Thank you!

Found this while rock hunting on the Rush River in Wisconsin. Brought it home thinking the cavities might be indication of an agate. After I cleaned it up all I could see was a skull. Is that possible? It was partially submerged in the river and measures about L10"xH5"xW4".
