Hi all, This rock comes from the Lance formation in Weston county, Montana. It's fossil-caliber solid feeling (as opposed to clay-like matrix in this area), but it's obviously not a solid fossil (unless it's a coprolite of mashed up stuff). There seem to be many fossils in it. The only thing recognizable to me is a couple of ceratopsian teeth. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I should leave intact (such as a coprolite) before I try to dismantle it...lol It's wet in these pics.

What about the attached which is about 2.5mm to 3mm from tip to base. Found on a beach in the UK?

Hello all....new to the forum. I have been roaming beaches for years and picking up random objects. Always a fan of the unique and interesting. I was on Holden beach in North Carolina recently doing the normal shark tooth hunt. I came across something I'm not familiar with. At first I was hoping it was a tooth...someone said super croc..except it really wasn't cylindrical enough. Then I moved to maybe a dino tooth of some sort based on the top. Well I have searched all I can, and my best guess is I may have come across a nice piece of coprolite. Thank you in advance for taking a look. I am amazed by all the knowledge here...

I am on vacation in SW Vermont.. Last evening, I had dinner with my niece and friend. She has an interest in fossils (I gave her many as presents and she has hunted the Peace River a couple of times.) A while ago, her friend was at a Flea Market and from a cardboard box labeled "New York", he got a number of rocks that contained fossils for her. That is all I know....and I am certainly no expert on fossils in rocks from the Northeast.... Hi, I’ve found a few rocks on a Suffolk beach today and I was wondering if and if the are fossils. One has a wood like pattern. Could it be petrified wood? the other three glow under light. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Fossil hunting. Found a few bivalves and some suspected trilobite pieces. But the weirdest find was this. Its probably normal but thought I'd ask what it is?

Hello everyone! This is a cool big rock, found where we found the now identified chert. I don’t know anything about chert and rocks in general although I am learning more each time I post. Does this rock have any particular name? Also, I am posting a picture (last two photos) of what I thought was an inclusion on the first chert rock that I posted. I just want to understand what gives it away as clearly not being an inclusion?

This was found in North Idaho while rockhounding through a creek. It is abnormaly heavy for rock. Can anyone help me identify this? Here are some pictures. Thank you.

Was out fishing recently when I came across a stone on the bank. The spot this was found is underwater when the water is high from snow melt in early spring.I believe there was a factory that used this portion of rapids as a power source many years ago. It was found in St Lawrence Country, NY

Bought this yesterday, what are the rocks in it? Thought it might be "African Turquoise" (so a type of Jasper), but some more information: -Beryl scratches it -Quartz very lightly and superficially scratches it (which is why I am confused, cause I was pretty sure it was the Jasper type mentioned above? I did scratch it with a sharp quartz point though, and it left a small barely visible scratch. Thoughts?) - It seems to not be able to scratch Turquoise, but hard to test as they are beads. I think the color and pattern is odd for turquoise though, even for a low grade one? - I dipped it in acetone and no dye came off. Any ideas? It bugs me that I can't identify it. Would really appreciate your input thanks!

Not sure what this rock is, if a mineral or also a fossil. Found near a lake near Odenwald, Germany. Put up a picture of what the sign says about the rocks found there. Thank you.

Hi I am a newbie.But I always stumble upon some neat fossils while searching for arrow heads.i live in Ashtabula county,Ohio.It seems strange to me I found in a cornfield freshly plowed and right on top this fossil.And no arrowheads.
