  1. Rock or fossil

Hey guys! Total newb here, I was hunting for some Pennsylvanian brachs when I found these strange looking circular halves.(they don’t go together) Could they be fossils or are they just plain old rocks? My vote is just plain rocks.

  3. Emmitsburg Rock or Fossils

Found these in local creek whose source is the local Emmitsburg MD. One was encased in sandstone. The other in some other more grainy stone. If you look close, the grayish one has tiny bumps uniformly along the side. I may have scraped some too much. Any ideas on if these are fossils?

  7. Tube in rock ID?

Snow is just melting but in the mean time I've split open one of the larger rocks I took home and discovered a new little guy. Probably a twig. If not it could be a tube worm. You can see brachiopods around on this rock, I do know it was a shallow Eocene ocean 50 million years ago. So let me know what you all think. Maybe its just a stick or maybe something more interesting Thanks for you time - John
  8. Hi all I came across this for sale on the favourite auction site. It is listed as a claw from the UK but to me it looks like a standard rock in a slight shape resemblance. Im not planning on buying but keen to know others opinions and it hopefully will stop someone making a costly error

  20. Brand new to fossils here, and hope I’m following the rules of this forum. I recently collected some rocks from the creek behind my house in for my fish tank. I noticed that one of them has fossilized remains (I’m not sure I’m using the correct terminology here). More specifically, this was collected at (38.8069171, -77.1493230) on the surface of the creek bed in Alexandria, VA. The surrounding rocks were of all colors, shapes, and sizes. I’ve taken a picture and used my unsightly finger for scale. Could anyone inform me of what I’m seeing? I tried some google searches but was admittedly unsure how to search for this. Thank you!
  21. What could this be?

Hi! We live in central Pennsylvania, and found this rock in the woods right around our house. We are very curious as to what the thing sticking out of the rock could be? Any help with this would be great!

  23. Mystery rock

Hi all, this rock has been in the yard since the 50's at grandmas house. It was originally found in the Grand Canyon around that time on a trip. I'm no archeologist so I'm here for expert opinions as this rock looks very different to me( egg like ). It's about 5x7" and weighs about 8lbs. I have held on to it over the years just because it looks so peculiar to me. Thanks for your time or sorry for wasting it.
  24. Bone

I found this rock in the satsop river Washington state. I am a newbie in the fossil world. I would love any information you may have.
  25. Went to look for shark teeth the other day on the potomac, md side. Found small teeth, and also a rock that looks interesting. Has some crystal or something on it. Any one have any ideas?
