I found these 2 rocks in a bed of river rocks at an apartment complex in Denver Co. I found the biggest piece 1st and continued looking for more interesting rocks when I found the small piece. I was surprised that they fit together. The big piece weighs approximately 2 lbs and the small piece approximately 1/2 lb. If it's not a fossil then I need to know how it formed.

H i live in KY and was wondering if someone could please tell me if this is a petrified human finger or just a rock? I found it in the dirt when I was replacing my waterline. It feels weird and when its wet, it feels even weirder.

Hi there! New member here. My meemaw just shared this item with me that was found near a creek bed behind her house (just north of San Antonio, Texas). Looks like it has some identifiable facial features, but it is awfully heavy. Thanks in advance for your help in soothing her curiosity! K

Hi! My mom brought me this back from the Bristol Bay Area in Alaska, and wanted to know if it was some sort of whale bone, or just a funny shaped rock. Texture is fairly porous on the elongated portion and more dense on the bulbous bit. Found on a coastal beach on Bristol bay. Measures around 6.5 by 11cm at its widest point. Thank you for the help!

Hey everyone, I just got into the hobby of fossil hunting so please excuse me if this is something obvious. I found this in a rock and I can't find anything quite like it. I live on the Georgian Bay Formation so from my research it should be from the Ordovician. The second pic is from the other side of the same rock, don't know if they're related. The picture doesn't capture it well, but there's a bit of perfect curvature that to my untrained eye looks organic. Any help in identification is appreciated.

Hello, I found this on a beach along Croatian coast and was unlike any of the surrounding rocks/geology. It's symmetrical and submarine-shaped. I'm wondering if it's a fossil v. a natural formation. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Hi, here's a real mystery, is this a fossil of a small animal or just a sandstone rock. I think is looks like a small alligator or a baby dinosaur but I'm no expert. Anyone have any idea what this is. I was sorting through a box of rocks and found this in it, I don't think anyone ever displayed except for me. I let my imagination take over and found space in my cabinet for the last 20 years. Thanks for looking Dignrocks

Hello! I went to my local beach this evening — Brant Rock in Massachusetts — and did a little rock hounding. I’m very new to the hobby so I was hoping someone could either confirm or deny if the rocks I have here are granite or something else. I did a little bit of reading on the color/mineral variations of granite but I’d like to ask real people. So, if anyone reading this is very savvy with mineralogy is it possible to know which minerals in particular give these rocks their colour? I’d love to have that knowledge for the next time I go to the beach. Also, I’ve read that it’s somewhat common to find red jasper here and another nearby beach, and after two hours combing the beach I think I might’ve found one. Thank you all so much!! p.s. Sorry for the low light. It’s sunset here now and the lights inside the house don’t show the colour very well. If you need brighter pictures I can retake them tomorrow. Thanks again!

Not sure if this rock is a fossil or unique mineral deposit that created uniform circles within the rock. My amateur guess would be maybe coral fossil?

So found this today in our stream and never seen anything like it. Originally thought it was a plant or bit of wood however is definitely stone/mineral/bone after the teeth test. Our best guess is a stalactite however we have no clue. If anyone can give us a rock ID or a fossil ID would love to know more. It’s just over an inch in length no more then 35mm with a hole/tube going through it

Sorry but I am not geologist or have any background on fossils. I am an iNaturalist user, and a friend sent me some photos taken in a NW Spain beach asking me if it was a fossil. So I searched iNaturalist and found a topic which mentioned this was a good place to ask for fossil identifications. So here are the photos he sent me. The place is now covered by sand this year so I guess he cannot take close ups right now (just in case you ask). The 1 euro reference coin diameter is 23.25 mm (according to wikipedia). There is a "snake shaped" mark in the rock, next to the coin in 1st image. But to its left I also see an odd "olympics flag" shape with 5 circles, in the 2nd image. There are also some photos of the context place where the rock (marked with a piece of wood) is found. Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

Found in a creek in Floyd County Kentucky. Area is Pennsylvanian (according to the university of Kentucky website the area may also have a very small mix of Cretaceous, Tertiary and Quaternary). I'm wondering if this is a fossil, like an impression of a seed or something, or if this is just a weird rock. Thanks in advance.

So I'm looking for any information on this beauty. It is part of my late husbands collection. Info: Location: Unsure but I'm guessing Texas because my husband never traveled outside of Texas. Colors: white/grey black Gold/copper (solid) Gold (semi-translucent) Metallic silver Dimensions: (approximate, please see pictures) Smaller diameter- 2.5 cm Larger diameter- 5cm Height-4.25 cm Width-3.5 cm Length-4.5 Key details: It looks like a elephant foot to me. On the smaller circle (top) it looks like there is a smaller triangular-ish circle. There is a opaque goldish/copper color on several spots , they seem somewhat like veins. On the larger circle (bottom) there is a semi translucent goldish color. It seems iridescent when the light hits it. Thr metallic silver color is on different spots all over it but seems to mainly be where there is a nick on the rock. When dry it is a white/gray color but when wet it has a yellow/tan-ish color. It is not magnetic. It sparked while I was cleaning it. I have added many pictures. If there is any info I missed or any pictures of the rock you may need, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you all for any help you can give and any info about it.

I found this in the Wyoming range (western Wyoming) amongst ammonite fossils. Wondering what this could be? this rock was way too big to carry out unfortunately Thanks

Found this in Alaska along the Anchor River. Unsure if it is a fossilized anything? Almost looks like there are wing impressions on both sides of the narrow segments, which is about an inch long.
