I live in Northern Wisconsin in an apartment complex, and the pathways outside are decorated with various rocks. I found this among them, and the closest thing I can think of is that this is a femoral head that is very encrusted in crystal. I'm not an expert, and I've only found one real fossil in my life; I'm also not sure where else to show this to possibly get some information, so any guesses would help out a bit. There is some black crystal inside of it, so I'm also wondering if this might just be some odd geode, but the shape just has me baffled. There is also some sort of pattern near the white portion that looks brown and has a sort of line pattern going up/down from that white portion. Thank you to whoever can shed some light here. Much appreciation for any help I can get identifying. I am very new to this and am very curious. I inherited a ton of fossils and artifacts from my parents who died 11 hrs apart as a result of COVID 2 years ago this month. I would like to know more about what I've got.thanks in advance.

Found what we thought was a cool potato-looking rock. When my son dropped it, it broke open to reveal a soft, crumbly interior encapsulated by harder rock! What the h*** did we find? Approximately 6"x3" Weighs </= 1 pound

Looking to see if anyone thinks this might be something interesting. When I first saw it I thought perhaps it was the base to an Eospermatopteris but I think I may be a little too excited on this one. Found near Caanan, NY on a mountain in some dug up ground. Hoping it’s more than just a rock but it looks cool either way. I noticed there is some (fossilized??) lichen on it. The bottom is very flaky which adds to my skepticism about it being a fossil. Thanks to anyone that takes a look!

This fossil (piece of stone) is one of my favorites since 1993. however, I am starting to learn more and more about fossils and I also have my doubts whether this is what it seems. I found this in northern france in the middle of the border with belgium. In another ID help request I have another fish stone that I found among the masonry stones of a ruin. proudly I brought that font to my brother who was digging a swimming pool. when I arrived I saw this fish laying. nothing has been done to the stone no matrix has been removed 100% pure from the ground. but everything seems too good to be true. the mouth is open the eye socket is thick. and the flesh seems partly rotten. there also seem to be fins and I clearly see a different colored rock. I don't see any scales, but maybe a scaleless fish. who can help identify. thank you in advance

I found this piece at Calvert Cliffs Maryland on the beach and it seems too irregular to be just a rock and kind of looks like it could be part of an animal, possibly a whale or porpoise. Can anyone help ID this?

I bought this fossil in a store of rocks and fossils. I dont know anything about this type of Ammonite or even the rock where is. The seller told me is from Perú.

Hello everyone! This will be my first, of several posts requesting identification help with various items from a single spot I stumbled upon. To keep it brief, I live on the far west/nw edge of San Antonio Texas. I’ve lived in this house nearly my whole life—almost 32 years, and inherited it in 2020. Last summer I decided to begin working on a small natural pool and disappearing waterfall for my 2 dogs. I picked a spot in the backyard and to my surprise I didn’t end up hitting any rocks until nearly 3 ft deep (a first for me— I’ve dug in many places around my lot and this area and have always hit virtually solid limestone before even 1 foot deep). About that same time I found several chunks of metal— maybe iron- ore nuggets, possibly meteorite bits or just deposits, im not sure, but finding these made me slow down digging and paying closer attention. As I was clearing rocks out I noticed that they just looked strange and we’re arranged oddly enough that I stopped digging with the pick axe altogether and started carefully clearing the dirt and widening the hole so I could figure out what I was seeing. I collected different pieces and cleaned them up with vinegar—some I cleaned up further and set aside. This particular piece cleaned up pretty well but I’m stumped about what it is, if anything at all besides a very solid, strange and pointed rock. I’ll confess that since last summer I’ve managed to expose a pretty wide area of this rock bed and I have a theory…a fairly strong suspicion that it’s the very weathered, maybe very old, badly broken fossilized remains of a large turtle or tortoise…based on the intact pieces I’ve collected and cleaned. I’ll include early and current pics of the bed and will post several of the key pieces for identification help a little later. For now, I’m just asking for help with this one piece— any and all input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and have a beautiful day!

Good afternoon, This egg shaped rock was found on the surface of a reclaimed quarry in Alberta. Any thoughts on what it may be? Considering it was found at a gravel quarry my initial thoughts were that it was a rock that was somehow shaped during excavation and or screening. The colours and the jagged eggshell type patterns have me wondering though...? Apologies for the imperial measurements for scale. For reference the egg is approximately 90 mm (9cm) in length. Thanks for the help.

While combing my local beach in Virginia Beach, I came across this piece. The inside coloring and texture has me questioning tooth, much like some of the broken pieces of GWs that I’ve found in the same area. Shaped like an oval cylinder, about 3 inches long. Tusk? Rock?

Hello, I’m not quite sure what this could possibly be if anything.. the shape of it along with some of the details like the top part of it, the slit (mouth?) and random red dots. I thought it looks kinda made or like carved? I’m not really sure.. found in Tudor and Cashel, Ontario Canada.
