The other day I found this strange looking rock on the beach at Port Mulgrave- a well known fossil hunting site near Whitby. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any ideas as to what it might be before I go ahead and hammer it out...it looks like a typical nodule from the area with several distinct lumps. I hypothesise a group of Ammonites but this is only a guess. Any help would be much appreciated!

Found this fossil in Runswick Bay today when we were looking for ammonites. It is in shale and starting to fall apart. The top bit broke off by hand into two sections so I haven't tried to prise off the rest in case it completely crumbles. Could it be a trilobite?

Hello Everyone, I found this eroded partial nodule while on a fossil hunt at Runswick Bay last year. I think it contains part of a fish but I'm not sure of the type. I've had a look at some other Yorkshire fish material, primarily Gyrosteus, but haven't seen anything like it yet. Most of the Gyrosteus material seems to be much bigger then whats in this block. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify what it is, I think I have sections of fin as well as possibly a cluster of ribs eroding out of the block. I've also included an annotated image of the front and back since the material is very difficult to pick out in pictures. I'm sure I have missed a few bits but I drew in everything I can see. Also, is there any way to prep this sort of material? The block is full of calcite veining so I assume manual preparation is near impossible, certainly well beyond my beginner abilities. Any and all information you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Benton

Found this rock on the beach in Runswick Bay, Yorkshire. It is very light weight compared to its size. Is it a rock or some type of fossil? Could it be Scoria? Any help with the ID is appreciated.

Had a walk from Runswick Bay to Kettleness and back yesterday, found some nice ammonites, a few belemnites, bivalves etc. Not sure what this is, if anything. Is anyone able to identify it from the pictures? For those unfamiliar with the area it’s close to Whitby, an area known for Jurassic marine fossils
