I've been a lurker for a while. First time I've gotten the courage to post. Did I indeed find a shark's tooth, or are my teenagers right to patronize me? This was found on a beach in San Pedro, California.

I've just visited this hill directly north of the Trump National Golf Course (yes, the president owned a golf course in my city ) which I was told by a museum docent had fossil fish scales. Here's what I found which could possibly be fish scale fossils, but I need a full confirmation on this. Some notes -All three rocks are associated- they were all part of a giant piece of shale rock which was broken into pieces when I found it. -The "fish scales" are a more darker or orange brown. -I think I was unable to capture the best possible detail due to the absence of natural lighting which made details more camouflaged. -Each "fish scale" lie on only one layer, throwing off the possibility of it being a crystal. -The black stuff are dendrites or a similar type. -Found in the Palos Verdes Hills, directly north of the Trump National Golf Course. Rock 1 Rock 2 Rock 3 Is this my first ever fossil find or another bust?

Help ID possible large fish fossil found in San Pedro, California area
ADURAN posted a topic in Fossil ID
Hello everone, Thank you in advance. This is my first post so bear with me if I don't give the proper information needed or if my photos aren't sufficient. I think this is a fossil? Possibly some sort of fish? Found on the Los Angeles coast in San Pedro area of california. I'm posting two photos but because of the size I couldn't post the rest. I will try to post more in another post on this thread. Thank you again, Amy -
Help ID a few other possible fossils found in San Pedro last week
ADURAN posted a topic in Fossil ID
We found a few more fossils in the San Pedro California area this week and was in hopes of getting some help with ID's as I'm all new to this and have no idea. The first one looks possibly like some sort of bones? The second one may be nothing and was about 20 inches long, I wasn't sure if this was a fossil as the rock it is in looks almost man-made? not sure? Like I said I'm no expert at all.. The Third is some super tiny little what looks to me to be some sort of fish? Thank you in advance for your help! -A- 4 replies

Articulated valves found in living position in the substrate just below a shelly hash zone created by a tsunami. They may have been alive at the time of the deposition of the tsunami hash layer, which could conceivably have suffocated them. Found in the San Pedro Formation sands.
