  3. Have not been on the Fossil Forum in a while. Been hunting the creeks and rivers here in the "Low Country" SC
  4. left at 4am this morning for our destination. we arrive 3 hrs later at ant hill. the sun was up and though the weather app said partially cloudy, there was hardly a cloud in the sky. climbed the hill and set up shop in a random pit and went to work. we didn't really know what we were doing or what to look for. we could see pick marks where others had previously dug and i quickly understood why using one was a good idea. man, that stuff was tough! i didn't bring a pick so we were limited to just the loose stuff. we made due and scored some teeth. we found mostly micros and partials but we did end up with a few nicer models, some skate/ray teeth (i think), and cool pieces of bone. oh i also found what i thought might be a mammal tooth. its about 3 inches long, slightly curved, and looks like a smaller version of some sort of whale or dolphin tooth. i accidentally broke it and the inside was black. does anyone know if mammal teeth that size have been found in the area? i'll try to post pics of it later as i'm having trouble loading the files which are apparently too large (any help would be appreciated)
  5. Post Oak Creek Finds

Here are just a few of my finds over the last month in Sherman,Tx. My son and I have really enjoyed getting dirty. We have found tons but these are some of our best. Not bad for beginners?
  6. Venice This Season?

We are heading to the Englewood area with the kids just for a few hours tomorrow. We have not spent a lot of time there this season. Anyone having any luck? We go to the jettys, but it's not great for young kids. We've spent some time in the past at Service Beach/areas near the airport. We've found small teeth at Englewood Beach, but seem to find more closer to Venice. Thanks in advance!!!
  7. I went to Venice beach expecting to only find Fossil sharks teeth(which seems kinda silly now) but when I got there I found an array of other fossils like petrified wood, sting ray barbs and teeth, turtle shell pieces, etc. It's not very crowded on the week days and there's tons of wildlife too, so I'd certainly recommend taking a trip there
  8. Check out this photo scrapbook I made of photos I have taken over the years Thanks to all the contributors. Mostly sharks teeth, scuba, some ocean shots, gold, and emeralds. I enjoyed making this. Let me know if you enjoy it also. Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqfV6-CEGGE

  10. Georgetown/garden City Sc

We are heading thru Charleston to Garden City for several days. We are currently in Tampa. Any ideas on land sites/creeks/beach renourishment in the Garden City SC area? We've heard Burches Ferry but it appears closer to Florence. We'll spend some time searching the Edisto area while in Charleston, but most of our time during the trip will be spent in Garden City, and in the past, beach finds have been slim (as usual if there are no renourishment projects). Thanks!
  11. Hit The Edisto 5-25-13

  15. Lets Go Shark Tooth Hunting...

I am always on the hunt for virgin shark tooth sites. I survey creeks and rivers for places to hunt. Part of my fun is having fossil heads meet up. I go on weekends. If you interested in hunting for sharks teeth, send me a message. If you have a site and would like some company, let me know.
  16. How Was Your Fossiling Season?

Would like to hear from others about their fossiling season 2012. Mine was pathetically weak, for good reason, but will be glad to share where I went and what I learned.
  17. We have temporarily moved to Tampa, living in Hyde Park, and husband working at MacDill. Any intel on nearby creeks, "wade-able rivers, islands, beaches, etc. would be great. We snorkle, and love hunting creeks and streams. And spoil piles? We joined the local fossil clubs. Our interest is sharks teeth-for now. Thank you!!!!
  18. Hi there, Me and my family are going to Cape Town on the 1st of April and plan to have about 10 days here. We all love fossils and have done a bit of hunting in England and found the odd Ammonites, I have seen that cape town has a lot of sharks, I just wanted to see if anyone knows of somewhere to find some sharks teeth on the beaches around cape town (we dont mind traveling a bit). Any tips of finding them is much appreciated. Thanks Mark
