the first is this coprolite? ..I have seen some with odd colored patterns and was wondering....the second is what I think is some sort of shell in matrix?... found in gravel deposit from Brazos River west of Houston Texas.

I found this very complete snail/mollusk looking fossil, it’s the first time I’ve seen the shell and body shape of a snail type organism preserved equally well in a fossil I’ve found- can anyone help tell me what organism it is specifically and from what time period? I found it in Southampton, Ontario in my rock garden, so I don’t know whether the rocks from the rock garden are from a quarry or the shores of Lake Huron (I would guess they’re from Lake Huron, but I don’t know). Thanks for your help, I’ve been holding onto this for years and always been curious as to what it is! Christian

All of these came from Alluvial gravels in creek close to Trinity river. Only one I'm confident about is first one, obviously coral, but is it recent and should it have been here? It feels and clinks like glass. Next one I'm not sure if it's geological or not, seems to have well defined tubes of some sort. Next one lacks detail, plant, borrows,coral? Last one I thought was shell but looking at the rest of it not so sure, looks like it had a center with the tubes surrounding it, coral? rugose? Oh and second one is same size as last one.

Greetings all! Recently pulled this from south shore Lake Michigan near the Mack Straights. Curious as to what the fossilized material is inside the upper shell half which is approximately 2.5cm across. Any ideas? Bonus points if you can identify the shell too Thank you!

Found these on last year's fishing trips on the Trinity, there are no gravel banks on this stretch just dirt and some rocks here and there. Now is this a stone with a butt crack or very worn Echinoid? Has the makings of one, if it is I've never seen one turned to stone like this, how old might this be? The seashell was a surprise to find, I know it's worn but is it a whelk? And would it be pleistocene?

Hey Folks, My five year old son found this 10lbs slab with shells embedded in it. There are more on the sides. I would say that each shell is about 3 inches long. What is the best way to clean this up? Should I buy a dremel? E & B

From the album: Delaware Fossils
Two Exogyra cancellata shells from the Cretaceous spoils of Reedy Point, Delaware. Although Exogyras typically detached themselves from their anchorage while still very small - about 2-3 cm - these two animals continued to live and grow together. The lower valve is about 10 cm on the long axis. -

Graf, Iowa Orthocone Shell remnant or epibiont?

This is Isorthoceras sociale (Hall, 1877) from the Ordovician Elgin member of the Maquoketa from the well known Graf, Iowa location. They exhibit unusual preservation, including nacre and hollow camerae. According to Invertebrate Fossils (1952) by Moore, et al,, shells of nautiloids have an inner annulus layer, middle nacreous layer and outer porcelaneous layer. Is the circular pitted texture on the outside then the remnant of the porcelaneous layer of the shell or some sort of epibiont like a bryozoan? Plate 220 of Shimer and Shrock's Index Fossils of North America (1944) has orthocone shells illustrated, but the texture appears wavy.

Only one I've ever found like this. What it is exactly, I don't know. Found in a load of limestone road base, likely from a local mine.

Hey guys and girls. I’m so sorry if this is a common thing, I don’t hit the beaches often. but I just couldn’t wrap my head around what this is. first I assumed coral, then thought maybe the inner part of a sea snail shell? sorry for sounding silly. Just curious and it’s late and this seems to be the only thing I can focus on, hahaha
