Hi everyone, First, thank you very much for your help in identifying fossils! I just discovered this resource, and am grateful it exists. I found this unknown piece in a collections storage closet in the museum I work for. It was mixed in with other fossils and geology samples. Unfortunately, it was unlabeled, and so I do not know where or even when it was found. Again, thank you for your help, and I apologize for not having more information about the piece. If you need any other pictures, I would be happy to take them.

talking to a friend he showed me a stone (about 9cm x 3cm) on which there are 2 fossils (they look like two shells). The artifact was found 20 years ago during excavations for houses in the valleys of the province of Bergamo and he has kept it until today. Can you tell me what it is and an approximate dating?

Hi all - I just discovered this today on the beach and have no idea if itās a fossil or a useless piece of garbage lol. Found sitting in the sand, nestled among rocks on Youghall Beach in Bathurst, New Brunswick (Canada). About 10 feet from the water line, but near the high tide mark.. so would have washed up there with the tides. There is a bit of crusty sand still on the front - Iām worried to try and scrape it off. Just curious if this is āsomethingā or should be tossed out. Any ideas are appreciated!

Hello! This is my first post. I am on holiday in Devon and visited a beach at Lyme Regis yesterday where I found the item below embedded in a large rock. It measured around 5ā long and 3ā wide. The whole thing was almost ovoid in shape which made me think it was an egg or the top of a bone i.e. neck of femur. When I tried to remove it from the rock with a chisel I realised that it formed a veneer cover to the edges of the rock (visible in third and fifth photos) and pieces were slowly flaking off until the item split into two fragments which is what I am left with. Any help in i

found this stone back in the 90's in Camden, New Jersey. Possible bird or just a shell in the stone.

Good morning folks. I have a strange fossil that "looks" like it might be a devil's toenail or ???? It is filled with what looks like ocean debris. It looks like a shell, but has way too many layers. It also looks like some sort of coral or stromatolite. It came from a box of rocks purchased at a yard sale so there isn't any ID information. Anyone know what this really is?

Found North of Houston Texas USA in gravel load from Brazos River at first glance it seems to be a shell like pattern on the stone {why I picked it up} but the pattern seems to be the whole stone so thought perhaps compressed fossilized plant concretion? possible fossil wood? pulled out my macro camera and studied further....now I am stumped more photos to follow.....

Found this in the Peace River in the spring and have been trying to find something to compare it to ever since. Haven't been able to find anything like it. It has the appearance of shell or coral. The color is a dull gray and it has the look and feel of metal. Don't know if it is any type of fossil or just a suggestive "something". If anyone has seen anything similar or has any idea what it is your input would be appreciated.

Good day on the Peace River yesterday. Found horse, mammoth, mastodon teeth along with several varieties of shark teeth. Also pulled up the below specimen. It came up in one piece and I placed it in the shade on the bank. After about 30 minutes I picked it up to move it to my kayak. That is when the piece in my hand broke off. Retrieved as much of it as possible. Got it home in a plastic bag and submerged it in fresh water as soon as I could. Only took it out to take the photos. Small pieces continued to flake off the underside whenever it was touched. I tried to position it as it was fo

I think I may have found my first Devonian bryozoan. (From Sylvania, Ohio.) And I also am not sure if these are shell or plant impressions. The rock that I think has the bryozoan has many nifty whatnots to explore, but that pattern immediately caught my eye. I'm not sure if the fan shape on the second rock is plant or shell. And there's a small bit to the left of it that appears to be shell that I haven't started to ID yet. (Pics in second post) Thanks for any help.

I have this rock at least i think its a rock and was looking at it under a microscope ...if this is a fossil its the smallest I have found the white part is only half the size of a grain of rice if that. One pic is of it dry the others wet. its pretty just wish it was larger... has one large flower shaped patter and a couple smaller ones on it a lighter color

I have found two of these in separate places on the eastside. Taylor group. Contact/grey & the upper tan clay. The fossil has dips inside the groove. The first found was smooth in the undulating groove channel. This one has limonite on the nub tops. Anyone know what it is?

I like collecting shells on the beach. Was at Waldport, Oregon on Thursday and spotted what I thought was a shell. I was surprise to find something I've never seen before. Is this a fossil and if so, what is it? I attached a picture of the top & bottom. At it's widest points, it is 2" by 2/12".
