Found in rock shop rock pile..

Hi all! I stopped out at a local rock shop. While they are mainly mineral and gemstone oriented they do carry a handfull of fossils. I was looking for some gem jars.. while walking through their raw rock area, I noticed this sitting on the shelf with just a little bit of it showing. As I’m a prepping addict and it was only a couple dollars I picked it up. They had no information on it except it’s a rock with fossil bits in it LOL!. After getting it home I did a little probing prep and this is appearing. It seems familiar but I can’t put my finger on the name of it. The fossil is 33mm at its widest. Here it is wet and dry.. thanks for looking!
  4. I found this on a beach in south Texas. On the Bolivar peninsula to be exact.

Found this...what is it? 3cm long and 1.2cm widest
  6. Here are three fossils I need help identifying. I found one from last year's summer and two from a couple years ago. Here is a possible goniatite/gastropod. Sorry for the bad quality of the images, but if you look close enough, there is a small ammonite-like shape that has been crushed. I'll see if I can get better pictures if you guys ask in the comments. Right beside the larger one is a smaller one that is facing opposite too it. Both are really flat and their spirals doesn't go all the way in. Their outlines are very hard to notice, not sure if this is a fossil or just some rock formation. A twisting cylindrical fossil that branches into two. It has cracks and resembles very much a coprolite. Might be a rock formation, but I don't think so. Sorry for the bad quality pictures. A little round cone with lines all over it coming from the tip. It is round and underneath it there are more lines coming from the outside. If you guys could identify these fossils I would be very grateful because I could not. I would be glad if these were what I assume they are because they are very rare in my area.

    Is this an egg?

Hi everyone, First, thank you very much for your help in identifying fossils! I just discovered this resource, and am grateful it exists. I found this unknown piece in a collections storage closet in the museum I work for. It was mixed in with other fossils and geology samples. Unfortunately, it was unlabeled, and so I do not know where or even when it was found. Again, thank you for your help, and I apologize for not having more information about the piece. If you need any other pictures, I would be happy to take them.

    More fossil help

Unknown origin on Fern like specimen. Found the other 2 in Central Iowa US.
  12. talking to a friend he showed me a stone (about 9cm x 3cm) on which there are 2 fossils (they look like two shells). The artifact was found 20 years ago during excavations for houses in the valleys of the province of Bergamo and he has kept it until today. Can you tell me what it is and an approximate dating?

Is this beach find a fossil?

Hi all - I just discovered this today on the beach and have no idea if it’s a fossil or a useless piece of garbage lol. Found sitting in the sand, nestled among rocks on Youghall Beach in Bathurst, New Brunswick (Canada). About 10 feet from the water line, but near the high tide mark.. so would have washed up there with the tides. There is a bit of crusty sand still on the front - I’m worried to try and scrape it off. Just curious if this is ‘something’ or should be tossed out. Any ideas are appreciated!

    Identification, please?

Hello! This is my first post. I am on holiday in Devon and visited a beach at Lyme Regis yesterday where I found the item below embedded in a large rock. It measured around 5” long and 3” wide. The whole thing was almost ovoid in shape which made me think it was an egg or the top of a bone i.e. neck of femur. When I tried to remove it from the rock with a chisel I realised that it formed a veneer cover to the edges of the rock (visible in third and fifth photos) and pieces were slowly flaking off until the item split into two fragments which is what I am left with. Any help in identifying it is appreciated. Thank you and happy hunting!

    I just don't know???

Good morning folks. I have a strange fossil that "looks" like it might be a devil's toenail or ???? It is filled with what looks like ocean debris. It looks like a shell, but has way too many layers. It also looks like some sort of coral or stromatolite. It came from a box of rocks purchased at a yard sale so there isn't any ID information. Anyone know what this really is?

    Plant? shell? or mineral?

Found North of Houston Texas USA in gravel load from Brazos River at first glance it seems to be a shell like pattern on the stone {why I picked it up} but the pattern seems to be the whole stone so thought perhaps compressed fossilized plant concretion? possible fossil wood? pulled out my macro camera and studied further....now I am stumped more photos to follow.....

    Baffled by this one.

Found this in the Peace River in the spring and have been trying to find something to compare it to ever since. Haven't been able to find anything like it. It has the appearance of shell or coral. The color is a dull gray and it has the look and feel of metal. Don't know if it is any type of fossil or just a suggestive "something". If anyone has seen anything similar or has any idea what it is your input would be appreciated.

    ID Help Please

Good day on the Peace River yesterday. Found horse, mammoth, mastodon teeth along with several varieties of shark teeth. Also pulled up the below specimen. It came up in one piece and I placed it in the shade on the bank. After about 30 minutes I picked it up to move it to my kayak. That is when the piece in my hand broke off. Retrieved as much of it as possible. Got it home in a plastic bag and submerged it in fresh water as soon as I could. Only took it out to take the photos. Small pieces continued to flake off the underside whenever it was touched. I tried to position it as it was found before the break when taking the photos. Any help in identifying what it is would be greatly appreciated.

    Couple of finds

I think I may have found my first Devonian bryozoan. (From Sylvania, Ohio.) And I also am not sure if these are shell or plant impressions. The rock that I think has the bryozoan has many nifty whatnots to explore, but that pattern immediately caught my eye. I'm not sure if the fan shape on the second rock is plant or shell. And there's a small bit to the left of it that appears to be shell that I haven't started to ID yet. (Pics in second post) Thanks for any help.
