12.5cm. With a belemnite phragmocone at the mouth aperture. From the laeviuscula zone, lower Bajocian at Sandford Lane, Sherborne, Dorset. This is just the phragmocone. -
The colors come from the iron in the neighborhood. One can distinctly see the transition from phragmocone to body chamber. This is the index fossil for the subzone.

A good portion of the shell is preserved on the calcite mold. Just the phragmocone from what was a large specimen.

15cm. The shell on the inner whorls is well preserved. This specimen is complete with aperture. From the lower Bajocian sauzei zone at Sherborne, Dorset, England. The zone is locally named the propinquans zone.
