So a little over a week ago I found the tiniest trilobite. So dang small I can’t begin to photograph it. Last night I found the tiniest shark tooth (at least I think it is shark) I’ve ever seen. It was in gravel I brought home from Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Texas. I may have said this before, but I never thought I’d call a shark tooth adorable, but it’s pretty adorable if it is a shark tooth. I have no idea what kind it is is. I’m not sure I can get a high enough quality pic to get someone to help me ID it. But here it is just to share the cuteness. It might be 5 mm long. A bit closer up. The ridiculous thing is and it’s quite laughable, it’s the only shark tooth I have ever found in the POC after 5 trips! I even sift and sieve.

Okay guys! I've been talking my little boys fossil hunting at Post Oak Creek in Sherman since they let out of school for summer. Trying to get them interested in it and FINALLY!!! My 8 year old(least interested) found this. Please tell me this is a t-Rex tooth!! We are all pretty stoked regardless but would love some insight. Thanks!

I went to Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Texas today, and I found quite a good mix. A few of the teeth were a bit unusual. In the 4th photo I have a few questions. On the top row, second tooth from the right, is that a rodent tooth? Then (4th picture) second tooth from the right, that one has a strange “hook to it”. Also, second row, third from the right. Anyone know what those are? Thanks in advance!

I found this in the water at Post Oak Creek in Sherman Texas. It’s very small, but it seems to have a couple of different things attached to each other. One looks like a rudist??? I don’t know what is attached to the side with the line of circles though. I just thought it was an unusual looking little fossil. Any ideas of what this might be?

I took a trip up to Sherman, Texas today to sift around the Post Oak Creek. Here are my finds. A few good teeth and fish vertebrae, but mostly bits and pieces and tiny teeth. Do any of you know what the white tooth at the top of the group picture might be? I included a close up. Also the black tooth (?) to the right of the white one. Closeups as well. Thanks in advance!!!

Brand new to the forum, but learned about Post Oak Creek from you guys, so figured I'd share some of my finds from the two trips I've made out there so far. Not pictured are ptychodus teeth and various bone and/or shell fragments. If you wouldn't mind, I would like some help identifying some of the non-shark teeth as well as one shark tooth in particular. Those will be directly below this in the thread due to size limits. Thanks in advance! Ps. for those who aren't local, Post Oak Creek is in Sherman, TX and cuts through a Cretaceous (?) formation. First, here's a shark tooth that was particular thick and blunt. Not sure how to ID it...

I went to Sherman Texas Post Oak Creek for my second time today to hunt shark teeth. I found a nice variety of fossils and one killer Wilson artifact that is 7,000 - 9,000 yrs old.

I obviously don't know my sharks. The best way to learn is to ask though, so here I am! (I just separated all the species and picked the best of each) Found these back in July, in Sherman Tx. And I do know the ones on the right are Ptychodus. Smaller ones; Weird bone: continued...

What is this Cretaceous oyster that I found in Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Texas? Most oysters in the creek come from a yellowish calcite-cemented sandstone from the Arcadia Park Formation of the Eagle Ford Group. It is about 48mm in length.

Hello all, I'm still a newbie to all this so I was hoping that some of you may know some different entry locations for Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Texas. I have entered at the Travis St Bridge and the Sherman Healthcare Center. The Healthcare Center was recommended by a local I ran into on my last trip. He said he has entered there regularly so I gave it a shot. There was a lot of glass and trash in that location so extra caution should be taken in that area. Can anybody recommend any other entry locations? Hiking is not huge concern I was just hoping for ideas. Has anyone ever parked at Binkley Park and searched Sand Creek? Is there anywhere around Post Oak that is unfriendly to hunters? I promise to leave some teeth for all the other hunters out there (but I would love to find my first arrowhead). Thanks in advance.

Hello all. My buddy and I went to the NSR and Post Oak Creek this weekend. I was hoping someone could help me identify a couple of finds. The first is one was found on the bed of the NSR. It appears to be bone, but it is very heavy (perhaps from soaking up all the grey clay since it was embedded in the bed). The second was found at Post Oak Creek and appears to be bone, kind of like a finger type bone (digit). We also found some nice teeth and nice baculite. This is my first post about my finds, so any help would be much appreciated. I was also wondering if anyone could provide some advice on where to look for fossils at the NSR. This was my second trip in a month (or ever for that matter) and I am having a really hard time finding anything. The baculite is about the most identifiable thing I have found. Should you look on the bed, the cliff side (it's all grey!), mouth of creeks, the creeks themselves...? Thanks in advance. Glad to be a member.

Found this odd claw-like bit today while sorting through gravel from Post Oak Creek. Any ideas as to what this might be? Scale is in mm. Dark photo just to show scale. Both sides of the object. The best shot I could get of the "proximal" end of the thing.

Just starting to sort through all of the fine gravel from Post Oak Creek that I collected on July 11, and I've found these so far. Scale on lower right is in mm.

Not a massively productive hunt. Coupled with SOMETHING under the bridge smelling like Every Dead Thing In The Universe, plus nearly getting my car trapped by loose gravel. Anyway, on to the shark tooth pics. Scale is in cm. First, the broken teeth. Then THIS little guy! Don't ask me how I managed to screen-sift a small tooth with its root still in matrix out of a gravel bed! I would have thought that tumbling down those gravel beds would have broken it right off! As it is, I'm gonna have to glue it eventually. It's got a crack in the root that you can see in 1 pic, and the rest of the tooth is REALLY loose in the rock.

I am new to this forum, and have so enjoyed reading all your posts! I have learned so much! I made a solitary journey to Post Oak Creek this morning, after a meeting at work, and had a great time! The findings were modest, but it was a beautiful morning!!! I decided I would add to the chatter here, also see if I can post a picture, for a change, rather than only viewing. I spent the afternoon in Post Oak Creek with my 8yr old and found some fun stuff. Pics #1-2 are what I thought to be a shrimp or small lobster carapace? Everything found on gravel bars in a creek the maps show to be upper Cretaceous. #3-6 are pics of a bone and vertebrae I can't ID. Any ideas? And some of the standard shark teeth in POC, along with a couple of really nice ptychodus.
