Hello. Writing from Quebec, Canada. I was given a small box of trinkets from a friend who passed on. Inside were a few rocks and one of them looks as if there are skin impressions. Tiny but definitely looks skin like. Any one have an idea. I’ll try and take more pics later. It’s about a a half inch in diameter. Thanks.

I found this one near shore right after big storm here in Long Beach NY- Trying to identify. It has raised skin like bumps and measures: 4 x 5 inches. On the back side embedded with shells and 2 bumps coming through from front side? so a thick skin....? when googled the only thing it matched with was dinosaur skin? I have found many arrow heads and many interesting fossils ones here in the last 2 years, always right along the water/shore. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks!

Hi, this was found in a dry wash in Phoenix, AZ. It was pretty dirty and dusty before I cleaned it off. It has an odd shape, it’s angled and curved. Don’t have any other info really. It feels how I would imagine a dinosaur skin would be though... or maybe dragon.

While cleaning conodonts (and the next object to follow this topic), I came across this "imprint"? It isn't a defined shape, but has a very uniform pattern. Thinking fish skin? It looks a lot like the Iniopterygian I found a couple months ago but the "scales" are smaller?.....I'll let ya'll decide or comment!! Thanks!! Bone

Need an ID on Central Texas fish skeleton & Likely fossilized skin

Hello all, I'm 19 and brand new to the site, I'm hoping this is where I can get a potential ID on some very interesting fossils a family friend of ours supposedly found 10 minutes east of Austin on their private property. The first of which is a mostly complete fossilized fish - according to this friend of ours, it was found close to a river, where limestone slabs stick out from the eroded bank. As far as I understand, this was from an old bank line rather than the current one. He pulled on of the slabs out from said bank, and on it (after appropriate cleaning), a fish skeleton was found as shown below: An ID to the genus at least would be very appreciated. Secondly, and perhaps more interesting, is a fossilized piece of skin (potentially) I know fewer details about this particular find, but he does say that he found it on the same property. Some other fossil finds he has made (he's not a vigorous hobbyist, he doesn't actively search for these, just passively and on occasion for fun) include some bivalves and the other typical gastropods of the area. Of the photos, he included a picture of a large vertebrae, which I believe may be a mosasaur vert - a find sometimes made in central texas. Anyway, the skin he found is below: I don't have much context for size, my guess is that it's probably about 2 inches (5 cm) in length. Thanks for any ID guesses! Hey i was wondering if anyone can help me identify if this is dinosaur skin? Back about 15 years my husband went to montana to help out on a ranch. There was a part of yellowstone going threw it and he found this there. It was out side of Glendive. Any help will help we have always belived it to be dinosaur skin, but everyone i try and contact just tells me skin is very rare. If its not skin what is it. Thanks for the help.

What are these? Are these fish scales? Some look like denticles to me, but way too big. I really just don’t know. They may be from Kem Kem. I believe these entire pieces are just like a couple inches at the most, which should give you an idea of the size of the “scales”. If anyone can ID the actual species, that’d be awesome, but I’m actually asking more what they ARE, than what they’re FROM. As always, thank you so much for any help!

I found a mark of suspected skin in the deepest part of the large footprint of a suspected dinosaur? I found very little data on the toe skin marks on the Internet. Some people know what the skin texture is on the toes of large theropod dinosaurs?

Growing up in northern Minnesota I became an avid rock hound...and still am today...different location, but the same passion. I found this little gem recently...never seen one like it before.

Good afternoon everyone, I’ve previously seen some skin impressions on the auction site but not one for a low price like this one. However, I have trouble seeing where the scale impressions are on the fossil and was wondering if you guys could make them out, if this even is a skin impression. Fossil is 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm From the Hell Creek Formation near Baker, Montana.
