I recently inherited my great uncles small fossil collection and rock collection. I spent a lot of time with him and can identify most of what I have because he loved to pull them out and show them to me throughout the years. But I have two that I have never seen before. I’m not sure if they are even fossils. I’ve been to a lot of museums and to dinosaur National park many times with him but I have never seen anything like either of these. Unfortunately, I don’t know where he got them. He traveled all over the world and spent much of his retired years traveling so I wouldn’t even be able to guess where they came from. I apologize for that. The first one is almost like a crystal. You can almost see through it but it has the pattern of reptile skin. The second one I took pictures of both sides and a close up of it because I don’t even know how to describe it. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you

Can someone please help me identify this? I found it at our camp site on the Chattahoochee river in Chattahoochee County Georgia. I’ve been researching and it seems to be very similar to some of the pictures of fossilized skin….. Any ideas would much be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I found this in a landscaping bed in Des Moines, Iowa. I think it's made of some kind of shale because the breaks in the rock are very clean. However, I am not a geologist. Thoughts?

Found some weird textured rock and some shark teeth where I found big vertebrae which k believe is in woodbine formation. any ideas if this is skin etc? more than likely just fossilized cracked mud. but thought I would see. I found shark teeth in immediate area also. think someone posted on here the teeth I found pretty much with this patterned rock or fossil were saw tooth shark.

I don't think I've seen dinosaur scales with this shape. Could these be fish scales instead? Also, I wouldn't think skin impressions would be common enough to show up for sale.

I found what I believe to be a fossil the other day in the Fox River. I can only dream corner of whatever I might have found, but it appears to be scales or skin? How should I proceed to expose the rest without damaging what might be under the rest of this layer. This is unlike any other fossil I have found.

first post, so im gonna try my best. Found this weird rock by a cliff in San Antonio, Texas. I'm not sure what it is, but the best way I can describe it is from the top it looks like a circle with something around it, and then a layer of rock. Also has these white/tan cracks in the middle structure. I'm confused, but maybe yall might know or see more that I'm missing. Any replies would be awesome, thanks! best i could get with details: 10cm long 6 1/2cm width on brown 4cm width on red 2 1/2cm for the little circle on top
