Mosasaur flipper digit? and additional fossil found in close proximity. These were found in the Republican river valley of south central Nebraska. Found below an eroding layer of Pierre shale after a heavy rain. The same location as these Mosasaur verts. The triangle one seems to be part of hind flipper digit. The other has a interesting profile on one edge with a series of small holes in the valley. Any ideas would be welcome Thanks, Jim

A while back I collected several pieces of sizeable whale bone from Greens Mill Run and was able to ID them as to specific skeletal element (several were ribs, verts, mandibles, etc.). However, this one piece is fairly sizeable and has a distinct shape (it is worn down some), pretty sure it’s part of a skull, but can’t figure it out. Any whale experts out there think they might can help? It’s from the Yorktown formation, and even though Greens Mill Run cuts through other formations, this one came from a section of the creek with Pliocene exposures and the other whale bones I was able to ID, so pretty sure it’s a Pliocene baleen whale.

Hi there! I'm new to the forum and have identification questions on some material I pulled out Hell Creek. Where should I post pictures and questions like that on the site? We pulled out what is tentatively a femur, skin fossil, and a meat-eater claw (that one's in pretty rough shape). Also a mystery bone that almost looks like a piece of skull, with two partial eye sockets. This community looks amazing; I'm looking forward to participating in it! Warbreaker

I picked this up on a beach on Galveston Bay really just because I wanted to try to figure out what it was but I about to give it. My best guess is maybe part of a fish skull, but the bone doesn't look very fishlike. Anyone recognize it? Darrow
